Great job, and for a really good cause.

Are you looking for donations from readers, and if so what do you need and how do we donate?

Speechless! Thank you he is for sure,

To be honest we had 100% parts lined up

All parts for build one are here, majoirty for the other build also here.

We have a hiccup with one parts for the main prize. Still a little time and we hope to resolve it quickly.

    Little bit of news...literally

Our local media have printed an article about the project today. Just a photo until they publish the online version

    OK then news,
    apologies for the delay,

We had a “trolling” incident on our page , also some rather unpleasant messages sent to us . I wont go into details but it hurt..bad.

We had to take a little break and also Connor has been seeing his doctor , his current meds seemed to be making him worse than ever, We have had them changed but there is a transition period before he'll see the benefits meaning he just isn’t up to much the last few days.

Plans with some company’s have broken down.. and my phone (our only camera) is away for repairs...

    but

    More positive news!

Discussions with Intel are in progress!

    Discussions with Microsoft in progress!

Some parts have been sent away for some work to be done on them...very exciting news soon...!

Additional Runner up prizes added , I won this via a competition recently, its brand new, still sealed.

Still a lot going on behind the scenes sort of speak.

Facebook Followers may have seen Connor had started adding the PSU's, mocking things up etc. We cant really move forward much until the CPU's are sorted however.

Sorry about the quality, the phone/camera was on its way out

Great initiative Glent, :thumb: subbing so I remember to donate when I can & to see this come along. :)
Agree with everyone else, it's great to see companies backing something like this.

I thought possibly I had something along the lines of narcolepsy, I pass out at my computer sometimes but mines a don't want to sleep until I'm done with what I'm doing problem, so isn't insomnia or dyssomnia, I even nodded off while at the scroll saw before now so I avoid it when tired but I regularly pass out at the computer. :eeek::D

Seems I have a hefty drive of will condition which gives the same outcome if I stay up too long so mine is a self produced condition. :duh:

    stars & rep :)

Great stuff dude, I've bunged you a couple of quid. I went to a party with a narcoleptic girl once. It was quite an experience.

Have you heard the song 'Narcolepsy' by Third Eye Blind? Its one of my favourite tracks and playing it might remind him that its something even rockstars sing about!

    All the best,

Wow, reading through this log again really reminds me of 3 years ago. This was around the time when I'd just started buying the bits for my first PC- lucky you Conor- you're not on a budget! :D

I can't think of anything better for someone his age to be doing, and I can tell it's being enjoyed a lot! And that makes me very happy!

    Very well done!

Best of luck to you Connor! Have some rep for modding before you're even a teenager. (When I was his age, I was turning my entire family into Apple Junkies.)

Such a simple change has a dramatic effect, I agree.

We hope so too, tbh the project is evolving so fast we can't keep up. We have alot of compaines ready to plug this via Twitter and facebook soon. We hope it will have the desired affect :)

Thanks for the donation and goodluck!

Hehe Yeah I remember putting a AMD system toghter at around 15. Paper rounds saving dinner money from school..was horrid! Connor is extremely luck to have this chnace and he knows that :thumb:

And of course we STILL have more to announce

Now that Connor has One of the Two required CPU's, he was finally able to start assembling. The build was just a mock to test the other components he has had sat here for some time now!

Connors set about building the Fractal Rig Last night.
Only issue we have are 8pin and 24 pin cable length due to the size of the XL case...but that won't be an issue soon...

    Sure is

Connor installed Windows yesterday, Its been nothing but problems since.

    The actual install was faultless...but

first boot was suuuper sllloooowww.. (SATA mode is set to ACHI)
System froze after a minute or so (Not BSOD)

    Rebooted something happend.
    Next Boot was fine..

    .

Next odd one after install the GPU drivers (latest Nvdia)

After the Windows boot logo, The monitor goes black and just stays that way..if we do CTRL_ALT_DEL it opens task manager , and the desktop appears..

Installed a few apps like Hwonitor etc, Temps all good 20-30's

Then USB starting playing up, mouse not moving or keyboard responding, He rebooted and it does it again after a few minutes.

Some boots the kb /mouse didn't respond for a minute or two...after login screen

The on-board WIFI will not install, Code 10 in device manager.

    Things we have tried

    Bios update,
    Driver updates
    Monitor Temps
    Set XMP profile for RAM
    Everything is stock in bios.

So a real head scratcher, we do have the privilege of having more PSU's. RAM,SSD and such at hand to eliminate the issue.

I'm thinking PSU or RAM but we'll see.

Running Memtest now, Two hours in and no errors :wallbash:

Looking well smart mate, love the motivation your son has even with the condition. He's real inspiration for folk like me that sometimes simply cannot be bothered! ;) gives me the drive to soldier on!

    Subbed mate :)

    Thanks for the comment :D

We Ran memtest for 8 hours or so . All passes.

The machine was still not right so we've done the following since
    • Updated the firmware for the Corsair SSD
    • updated/downgraded chipset drivers
    • Reseated RAM
    • Updated the bios to a more current version build date more recent the one from the .TW site
    • Reinstalled windows
    • Change the SSD to the Kingston one
    • Ran Windows update.
    • swapped out the PSU
    • Remove USB 2 & 3 Header for front of case

In the process of the above we have fixed

    • Freezes
    • Slow boots
    • USB issues

We still have the following issues

Onboard WIFI wil not install This device cannot start. (Code 10) in device manager

We just updated the bios again just now to a newer version , via our ECS rep. Will explain to them its still not right :(

Connor is Dissapointed but patient. Have the system more stable now . USB working as it should.

Thoughts on this image, Colour scheme for fans White + gold

I'll upload a better shot soon, camera is being a pain  The gold is a failry accureate match to that of gold on the Heatsinks

We would like to have both systems done before end of July, Just need to source a CPU for the antec build :)

Also we Have a GPU giveaway competition coming up soon too:rock:

Great job on the sponsorships, I'm looking into approaching some companies myself to try and build my own. Seems daft but who do you email, their customer service?

It's nice to see someone from my area didn't realise until I saw Ashington in the newspaper article :D

Thanks, Hehe Country Durham not to far from here.

XFX GPU competition now over and winner announced, Phew that was quick, Lots of really nice comments from the XFX community

Connor and his uncle attempted the side panel spray a little while ago, They tried using a new masking tape to avoid cutting lots of stencils/templates like he did with the front panel. Unfortunately, we don't know why but the tape just didn't work. The paint bled really bad... :(

Thankfully our nice friends over at
    [IMG]
    http://www.plasti-kote.co.uk/

They sent some paint over and help us "fix" it.

We're still planning to add Sponsor names on the side with some vinyl’s before adding a few coats of clear to seal it all and give it a nice glossy shine.

We'll tackle the respray this weekend hopefully

I was impressed right up until I saw the Corsair Hydro.
    The H80, right?
For that price, a Noctura NH-D14 would be a much better alternative.

I'm a long time lurker but had to post as this is such a great cause. Brilliant to see someone so young getting into computers a great way to raise money for charity. I wish Connor all the best with his builds, they look really striking! Good to see so many sponsors getting behind him as well!

Top Dad too, well done for getting him up and running with this project!
