is that a drill press you are using or is it actuall a milling machine?

that pipe looks cool. the green plexi inside makes it even cooler. :)

    Thanks everyone.:)

@EEL - I saved the lightsaber joke for you. I was thinking it too, but the scale is way off. I wanted to mill rings in it instead, but then it would have looked like something far worse than a lightsaber...
My hearing is already bad. One ear took a fatal hit at a Rush concert thanks to a drunken idiot who cupped his hand over my ear and screamed in it.

    @talladega - It's just a drill press, and a cheap one at that.:D

i think them components are diode's which make shure the current goes round in the right direction all the time

I think I covered this somewhere in the BlooBalls log, but what the heck. It would take longer to find it.:D
http://www.use-enco.com/ Is good for cheap Chinese mill bits with about $9 shipping. I also bought my buffing supplies from them. I bought a lot of nice $3 bits from them on sale.
McMaster Carr has more expensive, US-made mill bits with $5 shipping. Bits here are $8 and up.
cross slide vise -This is the Milling vice I bought. They have larger ones too.
rotary table -This is the bit I'm waiting on. This is the cheapest rotary table I've found. I ordered mine out of the catalog for $75.+a $10 coupon:D

-I came up with a crazy idea for this 2nd reservoir. The other day I picked up a lava lamp from a vacant house. It was the kind that's full of sequins, and reflects crazy patterns an the wall. What if I put a screen in the front of the tank and fill it with something similar? :D I already have it set up so the intake flow is directed forwards.

I've got an update here and an update for the alumibox...
-New fillcap courtesy of the nearby hardware store.:D I also have some black vinyl hose for the led wiring.
-It was at this exact moment that I decided to turn the barb on top around to face the back. It looked like I was building Robocop's french tickler.:eyebrow:
-I got that stuff printed I was yelling about in the other thread. I made some templates in Illustrator.
-I had to cut these out with a dremel.
-Here they are cut and re-drilled to fit the mounting bolts.
-on a side note... How cool would this be if I had glass green 1/8" plexi?
-Two of the LED plugs are finished.
-Here's one of them bored out to fit the 1/4" black tubing I bought.:D I used oil when I drilled out the center, so it's clear as glass.
-I found some aluminum mesh, now all I need is some big flake glitter. I'd hate for this to come loose and get glitter in the pump.:eeek: I doubt it would run very long.

I was referring to the "time will tell" portion of the statement since you had mentioned that you build clock movements. It just smelled like an intentionally bad pun.

I wish I was that clever.

That's the nicest thing anyone's said about me in years.

I'm grinding out the 3rd plug today.
I have to solder all the connections on. I'm still filing out the hole for the fillport because I don't have a drillbit bigger than 5/8".
-cut out end caps. I was planning on using the MIA rotary table for this.
-gather enough confidence in my manhood to buy sequins.:worried:
    -silicone the ends in.
    -add LEDs

    @Clocker - :D

    Thanks!

I didn't get much done on this stuff. still waiting and working on the alumibox mod.
-I debranded the barbs. I have all the copper parts soldered, but I'm having trouble finding solder for aluminum. The stuff I had is gone. I have some worries about what will happen when I try to solder copper to aluminum. I've already started to call this res 'Professor Leakey'.
-I ghetto lathed the top barb so it would fit into a solder joint neatly.
-Last, I wired up the LEDs and sleeved them with the black tubing. Here I'm using the AlumiBox to test my work.
I also found some proper aluminum window screen.

I gave up on the rotary table and did the end caps without the fancy extras.
-The back cap here is polished and ready for LED plugs.
-I drew a flower... to figure out the 3-point placement.:worried:
-I enjoyed some noxious solvent fumes... and stared at the flower for a bit longer...
-Later I used the rotozip to cut out the 14mm thick front plug. -More fumes were made because it took a long time and the bit was getting hot.
-Note to self: Don't wear dark clothing when sanding plexi.
    -LED tail lights.
    -A shot with both caps.
-AAAANNNND in the middle of the photo shoot, an LED burned out.:duh:

I'm off to update the alumibox mod. *whoosh*

    Thanks EEL.
Maybe the LEDs were sniffing the solvent too...
