Planning Project : CLU getting lost in design

Story goes......I found an old P180 case Ive had for yonks!
and after successfully getting my first WC'ing main system up and running
decided to build an OLD skool pc build using all my old parts I have collected
with some new shiny gear too

what I have already-

ANTEC P180
AMD Opteron 165
DFI Lanparty DR SLI - 939
OCZ Plat DDR2 2gig
XClio 600

Ive started stripping the case down

 

Did it really take you 4 years to pluck up the courage to write something..lol

 

Pretty sure that socket 939 uses DDR memory bud.

Memory controllers in the 939 CPUs only ever supported regular DDR

This pretty much wrecks your budget unless if you have DDR RAM lying around.. Performance DDR RAM isn't easy to find anymore, and replacing the mobo and CPU would suck.

Yes!!! I decided on another TRON inspired case!!!
watched TRON:Legacy (Wednesday just gone) I liked it A LOT!
My Project is gonna be based on the evil character CLU....

got some rough ideas and artwork in png format

what do you guys suggest using for a first time user in 3d rendering software???

 

For first time 3d model/render I would use google sketchup and kerkethea to get started.

For Design I guess its going to be black with orange or yellow. Might be useful do some research for the kind of look you want for your case. Trons visuals seem to be largely based on dark background with strips of light here is a quick google for inspiration.

Tron was the first thing that came to mind when I read Project: CLU, haha. Wonder how it's gonna turn out.

any thoughts?

 

I like the idea of the fans running up the front, have you considered either moving the drive up the top or putting it down the bottom. Maybe to keep it even cleaner using a slot loading drive, making it look even sleeker?

I have been undecided about the optical drive all together TBH I might revise

the plan so far is a front and top mounted dual rads dual loop
and the xigamtek hdd caddy mounted up front???
