i must admit i only picture surfed this thread i will read it later, and i must say it looks like it will be a brilliant case, the teaser pics are great and well made *subscribed*
Are you planing on makeing your own fangrille out of plexi?... Do it it worked out rather good on my project
I am working as I can on the case and yes some of the concepts are taking shape, slowly but coming. Laser coherient light less than the critcal angle of the plastic tubing... hmm interesting idea... may have to add some cladding of some sort to make this work... may just try it. Yes some are but I am not done with many of the parts. I am still waiting on the local plastics shop for the blue plexi... a few more days still. I am very very busy with work and school right now and the project is going slowly because of it. Pacience, soon you will have pics. Regarding the fan grill... yes I am planning on making my own out of the front. The idea is still tenative on the front though... more coming soon!
Divergence was an amazing mod. Can't wait to see how this one turns out. Enough planning - get to work!
some further thoughts, and I doubt the laser thing would work, because it would terminate at each junction. Oh well, was a neat idea while it lasted.
I had a yellow case a while ago... but I like the look of a nice black Lian Li SO much more Not to mention nothing even comes close to matching it. Although I use yellow lighting now and plan to do so for some time. Of course my computer is named the hornet so it makes sense
I would think yellow would show wear and tear very easily. Any skuffs and it's a goner. But whenever you accitentily kick your pc, it's never a good thing
One more update before I start working, a blow up this time... did I need to say I love sketchup! This is a working model... All the attachments have been thought out and everything... I am starting the project now so stay tunes for a project log I hope this weekend.
I am going to presume that the two holes in the top area of the shroud are for your hoses to come off the Radiator? Won't that be a pretty tight bend, and force you to route both of them almost straight up? I would guess it will also make any disassembly for hose replacement very complicated? Just wondering if you already have another idea in mind for tackling that, or if you don't forsee it as an issue.
dude this looks like such a cool project i cant wait to see more pics of the modding. BTW i got the same case but it is clear xoxide sells them
I am still working on that little problem. We will see how that works. If you look at the model you can see that it is a little out of scale. I preceve that the lines may go out the back where the fan mounts also. Yes it would be a major pain to work on it as it stands but I will probably change the design some. Probably with a top piece that swings open over the hoses or something would be possible, or leaving the houses exposed. Small tweaking i9n the build proces smay be necessary. That is why they are a "sketch". More to come soon... Wow almost 100 posts and the project has not started... interesting
Totally true man...both the sketch and the design thread serve that purpose right? Just didn't want to leave it "unsaid" and a problem later on. Really looking forward to seeing fabrication start, plastic selection, etc.
That is true. I am hoping to start fabrication today. I am picking up the blue plexi tonight and hope to get started soon after... More to come soon...
Plexiglass is here! Yes that is plexi and yes it is huge and it is not one but 2 sheets. This is the blue tinted plexi that I ordered from the plexi shop that I use. They only sell this color in full sheets so this is a full sheet. This peice is infact 2 4x4 foot sections. Now I won't reveal how it looks until the project log but all the materials are here to start. I am also have a 4x4 foot sheet of tinted plexi but it is not in the picture. BTW the blue tinted plexi costs 80 dollars a sheet and the tinted 68 dollars a sheet... no to bad saying the 2x4 foot sections I usually get frons 38 and this is 4 sections. Look for more work soon and also this log needs to be moved to project logs. I will PM the mod as soon as fabrication has begun.
Just wanted to send an update everyones way. I did began working on the project but I ran into a snag when I sprained my wrist bad when I fell off my patrol bike at work. I am hopefully going to get the brace off in a week or so and start working on the project again... until then I am not going to update, sucks to type right now.
