A long Time since ive done a mod so i decided to make one for the new Athlon 64 system in going to build.

well onto the Sketches ive done today learning how to use SketchUp(no they aint prefect but im a first timer to this program)
Top is going to be a lift up lid, and middle is going to lift the whole top section to change hdd's and dvd that is going to be located there.

Yes these sketches need more work ie, hdd's and fans

    Edit:
Copper Sheet and Copper Square Bar to reinforce the frame (something about a copper computer case... always wanted one)
Holes in the sides are going to be either clear or an orange tinted plexi if i can find it

Moved to Modding as per the rules for Project Logs.

Plans/Ideas belong in modding. Once actual modding/construction has started, let an admin or moderator know and we'll move it back to PL's.

Not if you spay it with a coat of clear. I'm sure there must be some variety of anti-oxidizer out there.

Your design could realy work, move all the unintessesting parts at the botom, and all the lookers on top. I havent seen a copper case yet, but i havent looked for it, but its something else

What about copper heatsinks? Those don't oxidize, and I doubt they spray it with run of the mill automotive clear coat. There must be some thin anti-oxidant they use which doesn't impede heat transfer that much (not that you need thermal transfer but that's not the point).

Also, it would take quite a long time to oxidize. Well...I guess not as much with all the handling, and then you'd get that nasty fingerprint look. But maybe it could be cool. You could also polish it occasionally.

I think making a copper I/O panel and copper pci brackets would really add to the look

Well, as for copper goes, there are different grades of copper. The lowers being the ones that oxidize to the highers being the ones that don't. And they use high grade copper for heat sinks. I believe it is copper 110 they use that doesn't oxidize.

polishing helps reduce oxidation, and as langer says, you can seal it once fabrication is complete to retard oxidation. I personally would think it oxidising would be kind of cool.

I think the other copper project mentioned is probably cold dogs copper cube, it's a classic by one of the best modders around. I would advise checking out his work log of it, you could probably pick up some good tips on construction.

    stop rust

You can also use a sacrifical anode tin( i think) just have to replace it every so often
