The new factory Challenger Super Stock racers seem to lean to this shape.

Not as bad as the 'mailbox' hood scoop on the SC/Rambler

The AAR Cuda 340 six packs had a lift off hood like this:

The era correct Hurst Olds had this hood:

[OFF TOPIC] John Henry Stivers had one of these back in Sioux City, Ia. Cost me 24 tickets in one night to prove to him that Hemi Roadrunners were not taxis
    [/OFF TOPIC]

The Buick GSX looked like this, modders mesh and sort of subtle. Had to be subtle as it was a heavy barge:

Still need The Judge and other Pontiac big blocks. Ram Air III and IV

You should hinge it with those pins that keep the bonnet hood shut after a collision.

Shaker scoop would be cool though.

Bonnet pins would be good :thumb:
Any hood scoop would look good! Any of those JHanlon linked would be cool. Have you shopped around car part stores to see what else is available? The only other thing i can think of for the top instead, would be a couple of carby air filters with chrome lids.
And how about covering up the cooler master logo on that V8 heatsink, with something like a 440 or a hemi sticker? :naughty:

I've looked around and it would be awesome if I could find it in the right size.

Also, since this is a car theme mod, I would love a tape deck or AM/FM tuner in one of the bays. The only tape deck I saw was white and I doubt that cassettes were in the 1972 cars anyway. Any AM/FM tuners available for a PC bay?

The earliest advertised cassette deck I ever saw was in a 1971 Plymouth Satellite Sebring. What a heavy 'luxry' 2 door that was! 318 would barely make it move.

I know the Cuda and Challenger had a cassette deck option but it really cost and the tapes were expensive compared to our 8 track tapes.

I have an under dash 8 track player in the stash closet but I never found a case to fit it in well. It's too wide for a 5 1/4 bay.

I figured as much and the wiring would probably be a nightmare too.

A tape deck would be a cool feature :thumb: I've seen some narrow car radios, so if you visit a wrecker or two you'll probably find something narrow and old fashioned. The biggest problem would be finding one in good nick.
It would be really cool to use the knobs on the deck for things like fan speeds & speaker volume!!! Speaker volume could be a bit of a pita/timeconsuming :D

You don't have to put the scoop on the top, you could have it on the side, above the barracuda, or maybe one on the side + one on top? Maybe too much? i dunno :D

    Ding!

I have an idea. I'm going to buy an old AM radio that was in a car of the time. I'll then remove the radio bezel and use it to stealth the DVD drive!

What would be cool for the top is a spring loaded scoop that holds a DVD drive or it could have 2 very small fans side by side that have some back lighting. Have it so it looks like a hidden panel but then you push down on the front and and the front part pops up but the back stays down. Just an idea..

I cut out the side stripe by hand on a vinyl shelf liner. And no, not directly on the panel

And applied it to the panel.

Then sprayed on the flat black

I bought the "440" as a decal, because I'm horrible with painting on numbers/lettering

    Then peeled off the backer

I purposely painted the stripe to go to the front

I'm sorry if it's not perfect. I did it all by hand with no rulers or guides

No need to apologize, if you hadn't said anything, people wouldn't even have noticed you didn't use a laser cutter to make the lines ;)

    vinyl shelf liner...
hmm... fill me in on that.

I'm looking for a cheap way to mask things for paint aswell..
Does vinyl shelf liner stick to the surface? and if so, is it easy to remove?

Yeah, it sticks no prob. It's used to line the inside of a cabinet to protect the wood from water damage. You can buy a roll of several yards for a few bucks. When you're done it peels off just as easy as it lays out.

I'll have to remember that one. Are you using the low-tack stuff, or high-tack?

I do like a Tach or an actual speedometer from a cuda on the bezel somewhere. Maybe hack it into the two 3.5 bay doors?

I have looked. Authentic ones are pricey!

    Wow, the paint looks great.

    @the V8: That's not a heatsink, that's a space station!

How does that cutter work? Is it a "score and snap" type thing?
