Update 9/March/07 ok well im back... and with bad news! the hdd mod stuffed up! there was dust from the plexi! so im going to get another hdd soon but until then im concentrating on other things. I went out and bought(with a lot of difficulty) a sheet of mesh! its totally awesome. anyway theres a lot of it. its 1.2m*.8m and they call it an 'offcut'! there will be some much mesh left over, enough to make a case! nah but close... . Im going to make the mesh door for the front of the case[its a small motor operated sliding door where the cd-rom drive is]. im looking at the back of the case and thinking about how ugly this fan hole is! why dont i replace it with some of that mesh i got?! so i cut the mesh to size[LOL try not to use a dremel u use too many cutting bits!], then cut the whole for the mesh, and finaly sanded the whole: then i glued the mesh in with some all purpose glue (ill get a pic soon). and waited an hour for it to set then here it is: if your wondering about the masking tape, well thats the next subject!. i covered the mesh with masking tape and began polishing the metal. its a really hard job(i didnt use a dremel just a polishing kit with a drill). im going to touch up and polish a bit everyday for the next week. Well here are some pics: actually 1 lol. The Side Panel Okay im going to do something special for the side panel. actualy not realy but it still will look awesome! I want to put a window in the case and its going to take up most of the space i cut some of the side panel off: and masking taped it to the plexi[which i cut and sanded into shape]/ then using the spare nut/bolt type combo thingies i had left over: I screwed the plexi to the metal at 4cm intervals from the sides (2) and 4cm intervals from the center(2). also 4cm from the base. That gave me this result. Another log will come soon probably withing 24 hours. and does any1 know where to host my photos as they are getting more and more used by the minuet! i wont b able to last a month with 10gig bandwith with Photobucket ok i found one see around post 42 or maybe even post 42!?!?!?!?
try hosing your files on http://www.gigafiles.co.uk/ That's what I use sometimes... It's only 5GB bandwidth Per Month, but since when do you ever need more than that for just photo's?
ok this is why im worried: and i started that account 2 1/2 days ago, and it only has bit-tech pics, and only 40 of the pics are posted. I have 10gig for the whole month! so by my calculations, at this rate by the end of the month i will have used around 120% of the service! and ty 4 ur help
I like the CD drive idea, looks very unique. What else you got planned for the mod? Also, for the photos you could compress them a little further in photoshop. Makes smaller photos for less bandwidth
okay... i need a professionals oppinoin... so ill turn to u guys . should i polish the bottom of the case??
Do you plan on having something special where youll see the bottom? Because otherwise, it seems kinda pointless to me, unless im missing something.
some ppl might feel that everything should be done. i might cut some holes in the bottom and put plexi there so the blue cold cathodes(which ill get soon) will shine there. polishing the bottom might make the light travel further instad of me having to put a strip of plexi and blue leds under there. what do you think? oh and the feet are probably made out of clear plexi. theyll be about 3cm high or 2.5.. and will have red leds shining on them!
OK, Thats what I was getting at, was whether or not there would be anything to see, and in that case I think you should polish it, for exactly the reason you say. Im not sure how much of a difference it will make, but I think it will help.
heh heh he hoffman, there was only one period there, all others were commas. And no you dont use more periods then me, you uses elipses, does NOT count as periods. lol sorry for the spam el1m1nate. Im really sorry to hear about ur HD, tis a bad omen. Id have to vote no on the polishing plan, it really doesnt have a purpose.
It wasnt a run-on sentence though. And about the polishin, if its not gonna take that much time and effort, I think itd still be cool. And if not, then no, but I still think it might be a large enough increase in light to make it worth it...
here we go, i got a whole hosting service for this one 3 meg movie. see its got 5gig bandwith so 5000/3 = 1666.6 views and this thread has already had over 1k views. lol i couldnt b bothered compressing it/changing the format cause it would downgrade it and its already very small. Use VLC Hdd window mod video have fun im gonna go work on the case.
