Project Diamond Black aka Black Fabio: 22/12 Complete Log

Another Project here, Project Mini-Me will be started after this Black Fabio.

Basic spec

1700+ DLT3C 0310 should get a nice clock out of this
2x 512mb pc3200 twinmos w/ winbond chips
Abit NF7-S V2.0
Sapphire Radeon 9000 Pro
WD 36gb RAPTOR 10,000 rpm SATA drive - ummm quick

Cooling - here is the interesting part

Original Little River White Water block
Eheim 1250
Aquacomputer hard drive water enclosure
HTP2 single radiator
Dangerden 1/2" clear tubing

Case

AMS Gmono CF-2029


The project involves housing the watercooling inside, drilling out the rivets to remove the hard drive cages, new full perspex window and also 120mm square cut out the top for the rad.

Hopefully I can also get a double floppy drive bay res which will look extra slick with the full front acryllic which is already on the case.

Green Soda, it's like a silent drive, but instead of foam has metal and barbs at the back and you can guess the rest...

Light up the front panel aswell.

The hdd isnt going IN water lol. Its like a big waterblock but on the drive. What isnt safe about that? Here is the enclosure.





The case is named differently under different places. I got it from www.novatech.co.uk

That image is one I took from a review as I dont have a decent digital camera.

JeffPH, indeed it isnt aluminium, but the finish is fantastic.

And yes some credit goes for sik for putting me back in the direction of that enclosure

 

that is an alumium case, VERY sturdy, ive got one exactly the same myself but in grey, ...im sure its not steel,

will be pleased to see wat u do to urs, as all i did was spray it n stick a green fan on it, lol,

maybe ill do sumit to it wen i have money, but for now im on project .ellt0r:. go have a ganders at it

y not mount the res fan on the front where the 120mm mount is?

drax, the case is steel, im very sure of that. If it was aluminium it would be a lot lighter, just take a look inside the case, its all steel mate.

The hdd chamber will indeed keep it nice and cool, it will have sound proof material inside aswell to keep noise of the hard drive out. Ive been hearing the 10,000rpm raptor hard drives getting quite hot so its good ive gone with a watercooler

The water will ciruclate via the eheim 1250 pump. It pumps round 1200litres/hour.

Phire, I didnt even consider doing that actually, I would like to have it at the top anyway to keep the case nice and cool. Heat rises so it makes sense to have an extractor fan at the top.

Phire, hardly any air comes through the front as it has a massive chunk ot metal in the way, and to get good air you'd need to cut a massive hole in the front, ugly.

Quick update.

15cm ish square cut in the top which will have black mesh on it.
Reason for cutting it there is for the radiator fan.



Ive cut out the two 80mm fan grills in the rear.


There are a few scratches on the top as you can see in this next picture but no worries because its getting a complete professional respray. Its being sprayed black again but with a top notch car finish. The previous spray job was glossy but was very rough, the new finish will be like a mirror.

Oh and the interior of the case (grey at the moment) will also be sprayed black



Oh and you can just about make it out, I have drilled out the rivets for the hdd cage, so that is now gone. Leaving more space for my pump

Yeah, if my dad ever wants me to build him a computer id get him one of those and do it up are harley like for him

Here is some plans coming next.

Im just waiting for my aquatube so I can cut another hole in the top. After thats cut I will me making mounting holes for the pump and the radiator. After that is done its off to the factory to be sprayed Vauxhall Midnight Black which is a two coat pearlescent.

A trublue powersupply will find its home at the rear and im going to TRY and get a couple of custom made grills for the rear 80mm's.

I will be making a full perspex window also and to finish off the inside there will be a blue and a white cathode.

The front activity lights will be white for power and blue for hdd activity.

 

After seeing the one I did for my bro, I asked my dad what he thought.

"That's..............awesome"


He wants me to build him one now, I did my brother's with all Dodge stuff everywhere, with black and red cobra sleeving

 

LOL this is freaky because, when I bought my case I was building my dads pc at the same time and I asked him what sort of case he would like, and he wanted the same one as me

btw, im getting the actual steel cage (everything that is grey) anodized, what colour?

 

Get like an emerald green! not blue!!!!!

 

What about getting it anodised white?
