Project: Digital Picture Frame- Oct 1 (Version 2.0!) Complete

Could you copy the windows 2k cd across to your hard drive (while it has win 95 on) then drop down to dos, the goto "setup.exe" in your win2k folder and run the setup from there? I have no clue if it would work or not, and youd need at least a 10gig hdd (which such an old puter might not have) but it should work and the benifits would be big. It looks great btw, why didnt you make a frame though?

 

i dont have a 10 gig hdd, and windows 2k would hardly run, if at all. the computer is wayt o slow for windows2000, and i dont have a problem with windows 95 right now anyway.

 

W95 should be OK for the job - Tucows is good for little shareware utilities. Here's one a quick search turned up: http://www.tucows.com/preview/328479

Alternatively powerpoint would do the job... you could probably find an old Office 95 CD on flea bay for a fiver.

 

already looked at their stuff, its shareware, and im not in the mood for spending money on software. it already has powerpoint and office installed, and thats what i am and currently plan on using for slideshows.

that ribbon cable and pcb will be tucked inside so you cant see it, its only there because i hada mouse and keyboard hooked up.

i was looking for a program just like that. a sort of windows xp my pictures slideshow but i couldnt find any that would just take a folder of pics and run them in a show. this program is perfect.

and of course, what project mod would be complete without a picture of the modders cat. chaos (cats name, my sis picked it) kept bugging me for food and stepping on the lcd during this build, so why not give her a bit of credit.

 

The mod looks great. I'm curious about heat issues tho, does the heat get dissappated (sp?) adequately?

 

well, there was hardly any cooling to begin with. the processor simply had a thin piece of metal on it, and it does get pretty warm but not enough to cause problems. its been running for the good part of a week now with no problems at all.

Yesterday I ran into a problem. The wire for the PS2 and serial ports on my laptop broke! No mouse, no control. No control, no use for laptop. So, I now am making a new one, using the same frame but a new mat and laptop. It will be a better laptop, better parts, and WiFi! No more 256 colour screen here.
