What you could do is put a frame on a LCD monitor, then put the PC beneath it on the ground, behind a plant or something. That would be just as good, and make it more expandable/upgradable. More expensive though, unless you had a old PC and LCD lying around.

hmm, you may be on to something there...

    Update on the project

Software side of things is COMPLETE! Which is good. I have the slideshow software running perfecto, and the WiFi is connected to the network but not the internet, so no viruses. I just have to get it onto a different workgroup and everything is great!!

I'm also drawing up plans for the frame, how it will be laid out and such. The plan will be drastically changed, because if I build a frame around it the CD, floppy, fan vents and on switch will be blocked.

Sorry I've been a bit silent lately, but I've been having a lazy spell recently. I think I'm out of it though, and I've gotten more modding done in the past 2 days than in a month.

Today I partially dismantled the laptop, separating the two halves.

Once they were seperate I made sure I could fold the screen around to the back. I had some trouble at first, but I got it all sorted out.

^ Still boots, which is always helpful.

Tonight I will take the old laptop frame out of the shadowbox, and take a look at the size of the frame mat vs. the screen. Phew, so far so good.

    Suggestions welcome. :)

    UPDATE

I removed the old frame from the shadowbox. Took a while, because the screws were covered with putty, so the bit wouldn't fit in very well. One was just spinning, so I had to hit it with a hammer a bit to get the threads to line up right and come out. Anyway, some pics:

^ The holes all filled up.

^ Drilled out and screw removed.

^ The shadowbox without the internal frame.

    Comments welcome :)

    UPDATE

Sorry about hte wait, I have been busy working on other projects recently so today I finished this project off with the help of my stepdad. We were able to polish it off in about 3 hours of solid work, and the result is not half bad. Much, much better than the old version. Some pictures of the work:

Problem is the keys stick out farther than the frame, so a backplate would be difficult to attach. You can't see it anyway, so it doesnt really matter.

I got a program called Picsaver (basically the My Pictures XP screensaver, but for non-XP os's) or you could use Powerpoint if you wanted to.

Nice to see a think pad get a new home, top notch work on the picture frames. I was thinking about putting my wall mounted flat panel in some sort of wooden frame to make it blend in better. Thread with pics on that can be found in my sig.

Nice work :dremel: good planning, well executed :thumb:

Sorry about the crap pictures, I hate my camera, it makes my photos look like total noob shots no matter how hard I try to take them good. Not like pictures taken with my dads camera.
