I want one!! is all I could think. so cool! lets say, if I, who don't know anything about a cnc, try to build one, how hard is it? how much does it cost?

And, is that a mountain range model, or lots of those face piece stuff to put you glasses on?

I the end, this is so cool.

    Thx Guys :)

Razer: it really depends on what u want, theres no generel formula to calculate how much a diy cnc is, u can easily build one for a couple of 100 bucks, and on the other end of the scale u can easily spend as much as 50000, so there really are no limits in either direction ( ive seen cncs for nothing, hacked together from printer parts etc... )

the pics show heaps of the nose thingies :D

Snake: Germany is a good place to work, thats for sure, im not so sure about many other things though :D

And those cnc's for "nothing", are they then less than $500?

They certainly are, if you google it ull find some examples but the ones ive seen are only trong enough to route pcbs and foam, everything else would be too much... ( and theyre very small, because parts were hacked from printers )

Impressive build tho can I make a suggestion why not make those nose thingies that are capable of charging phones as well?

Hey, I have to say, because of this thread, I'm going to build my own. Thanks for posting your progress, it has been very helpful to me. I'm interested in replicating the size of something similar to the first one you built.

Can I ask, would there be any reason to use 40mmx40mm extruded aluminium over 30mmx30mm? I plan on building the base from 30mm x 30mm extruded aluminium. Base to be 1200mm (length) x 700mm (width) x 200mm (height) or close to it.

that would be rather easy to implement but whatfor exactly ?

i build mine from 45x45 i wouldnt advise to use anything less strong if u can afford it.

    Simply amazing :D ...

How strong is your stepping motors? ...I'm looking at:

    Sanyo Denki 103H7126-0740 - Holding torque : 1,65 Nm (1,3 Nm)
    45 Euro

But don't know if it's better to buy some stronger ones, to be on the safe side.

    Sanyo Denki 103H-7823-1741 - Holding torque : 3,0 Nm
    65 Euro.

Sorry the bad english :) ...Impressive build.

Mine are 3nm but theyre underpowered, i would recomment to use atleast 6nm nema 34 on a build like mine, if its smaller u can use 3nm, but dont get anything less than that, loosing steps because of insufficient motor torque is a big hassle and u can easily avoid it.
