Hello, I started on a new project awhile back as I have put "Pellenor Fields" on the back burner (Project Pellenor Fields ). I've gotten a fair way through it and thought I'd post some pics so far. I started with a cheap $35 case and cutout a 92mm fan hole in the back and a 120mm in the front, I had to cut the drive cage to fit the 120mm in there but it works great providing allot of airflow through the case with little noise thanks to a 7V/12V mod switch I made. I was into this band called The Dropkick Murphys, a Boston Irish punk band and thought it would be cool to have a band themed case so I went for it: Cool shirt, would make a nice image for a window etch don't you think? A craft egg, cut in half makes a nice nose cone for the 120mm fan The etch got the window panel done then tried to clear coat it with a defective paint can Painted the interior "Grabber Green" with DupliColor ceramic engine paint Put lettering on and clearcoated motherboard side panel Plans for topwindow I know that's a hell of allot of pics but hope you like them
Woot a band fan case good choice too. Nice case so far, silver reflective paint on the front and side panel? Give it a nice shine and make it look chrome
wow!! i missed this for a while! i will be following this. i love the etch. dropkick murphy's... wow, i remember them. they rock live! well, i love you choice of colors and your etch. looks great. keep it up!
that is some CRAZY etching !!!! looks great !!! i want to see it all together should look sweet with those colors !!!
Not really a pirate theme... ...do people every really read these logs anymore? Glad to see someone breaking the mold with band cases, about time DKM got a case. Maybe I'll do a Flogging Molly theme
LOL, it's a band theme but thankyou none-the-less, thanks to everyone else for all the comments. I want to try and start on the top panel tonight and maybe paint (for the 3rd time) the window panel as well.
Just checked out your other project. Hellllla nice. Did you install the DL Port I/O for that LCD? lol.
Thanks man, that skull cutout was a real pain but came out nice. Before the clearcoat screwup I had used Frisket paper and sprayed on some Shamrocks, the template making was a real pain and to be honest the shamrocks looked like stickers even though they were painted on. I then tried stencils for the letters with the frisket paper and it kept tearing so I just used the stickers and clearcoated them, still looks nice to me and saves a hell of allot of time, blood, sweat, and tears. DL port, what do you mean? I followed the instructions I found to a tee and never got it to work and I just haven't got around to resoldering the whole thing from scratch. Thanks for the compliments all, I'm suprised I got so much feed back so soon.
Theres a small program called DL Port I/O that is neccessary to interface to the LPT port, as I believe you were doing? I dont think that was a serial interfaced lcd. http://www.driverlinx.com/DownLoad/DlPortIO.htm
DKM are a great band and the ccase is going to be amazing if pellenor fields is anything to go by. Keep up the excellent work.
Ah, didn't try that one, didn't know I had to use any driver for it, I tried like 4 different programs to get it working and got nothing, I'll give that a try here soon, thanks allot. Thanks, I hope to get this thing finished by the end of April or at least done enough to install the hardware and use it, I will be installing LED's to light up the etch and a few other things.
You did a great job with the Fields case, I gotta love the hometown boys from Boston. Dropkick also won me over with their music too. The ideas look sic nasty, keep it up
Thanks again for the nice compliments, I got more work done today and also got some goodies in: Nice raised logo on the heatspreader PSU matches very nicely got the rocker cutout, thought you might like to see the cut lines before it was removed Tomorrow the 6600GT should be in and I will start filing the cutout and hopefully get it painted this weekend.
might i make a suggestion for colour unity - paint those awful green screws to the greyish black of the outside, or the shamrock of the inside - anything but silver!
Agreed, I'll paint them black to match the exterior, more will be done this weekend and I'll post some updates after. Thanks for the input.
