Cool door mod. Do the doors actyally come off? It looks like it might be pretty diffcut getting to the hardware. Pardon if you've already answered/stated this but I'm just glancing though.

Hey fireflyl858 - I acutally have a limiter (a long screw) in the door mechansim that prevents the door from spinning around in a full circle.

    Wickyman,

Actually my goal for this case is to go the Import Tuner / Show car route, so make sure to stay tuned :)

As for the door, it first slides away from teh case, then rotates up.

I do have a lambo door hinge designed that I desinged and all taht good stuff, but I waiting to learn how to CNC, so I can make it myself. It will be bascially swing out like a car door, and then rotate up. It will be usings gas shocks to help the door move up on its own :) I would do that now, but I lack any CNC and mechanical skills.

Stayed Tuned :) There will hopefully be a minor update tonight, and a larger update this sunday.

As always, comments and feedback are greatly appreciated.

    Side Panel Window Cut

    Hi Folks,

Sorry for the lack of progress. I've been a bit busy. But I do have an progress update to post :)

I just finished cutting the window for the side panel of the case. I wanted to cut a window that was a bit different from the ususal "Square". I was looking for something to compliment the dragon, be a bit different, but still allow people to see into the case. With that in mind, I came up with the following window design.

As you can see the top of the window follow the curve of the dragon, while the bottom also has rounded corners.

Here is a picture of the window cut out with the dragon still attached:

Here is a picture of the window cut with the masking tape and dragon removed. I will be cleanign the cuts a bit later,a nd the stickly adhevise left behind by the masking tape will be removed when the side panel is sanded and prepped for painting

Here is a picture of the side panel mounted on the case, with the mothboard in the case. The mother board is just laid in the case for reference and not mounted.

Here is a picture of the side panel in the upward position. People will be able to see into the case w/o having to completely remove the panel.

I hope you enjoy the update. Once again, any feedback or comments are greatly appreciated.

i will try to get a bit more done this weekend and have another post sometime in the next few days.

    Kind Regards,

    SAD

Sweet window! It is really nice to see a curved window and not just the boring square ones. Goes good with your theme. Not many car windows are square. :thumb:

Are you going to do anything to the window? Tint, clear, etching?

SAD come on man, looks like you need to feed the dragon. Your dragon looks so real, it came alive and took some bites out of your table. :D

Hey, love the pivoting side panel. I was actually just thinking about doing that the other day... Why is it that when i get an "original" idea someone has already implemented? oh well, looks great dude.

AM - Yup.. I have a nice idea to cover those eye sores. They work well.. but not that pretty. I should have somethign posted in a few days. So keep an eye out on this thread.

gebrek - you don't know how many times I thought I had an original idea, to find out it was done like 2 years ago at Bit-Tech. It just seems I was the first to do the scisccor door, but if you do a search you probaby find a half a dozen people that has done it. So instead of making a case of completely original ideas, I'm focusing on using various idea to make a completely unique case. We will see how it turns out :)

So far the feed back has been great, which is great encouragement :)

Stay tuned for an update. There should be a nice one coming this weekend, hopefully.

    Hey Fellow BT’ers,

Sorry for the delay between updates. My rotary tool died on me, and I had to save up to get a new one. But I got my new one this weekend, and I was able to get right back to modding.

After cutting the top tribal pattern from a piece of alum, I wanted to add a bit more color and detail to the top, with out going to overboard. Since the theme of this case follows a import show car. I decided to use some acrylic vinyl to give the top panel a Carbon Fiber Hood feel, and use some fluorescent orange acrylic to accent the tribal cut out.

Here is my progress… Hope you like it.

Here are a couple of pics of the fluorescent orange acrylic. As you can see its, “VERY” orange, and the fluorescent color gives the edge a nice glow under normal lighting. I’m not sure how it will react under UV.

Here is a few picture of the tribal pattern being cut out from the piece of acrylic:

Here is the closest I could get the acrylic to match the original tribal. As you can see there is still a lot of access acrylic that has to be removed:

Here is the acrylic under the piece of alum. As you can see, the acrylic matches the alum tribal very nicely.

Here is a picture of the carbon fiber vinyl I will be using to give the top panel the “Carbon Fiber” look.

Here is a picture of just the acrylic sitting on top of the top panel covered w/ the vinyl. Just look at how bright the acrylic is under normal lighting:

Almost the final product, here is the acrylic sandwich between the newly covered top panel and the aluminum cutout.

I think this gives the top panel that “racer” look, and the acrylic will give the aluminum tribal cut out that bit of “POP”. Everything won’t be completely mounted till close to the end of this mod, once the frame is painted, and the water cooling is installed.

As always, feedback and comments are always appreciated.

WOW!!! SAD, great work. The acrylic looks awesome. :eeek: :jawdrop:

It really seems to glow under you tribal blade.

You have some great original ideas.

You really have the import car racing theme down. I love the carbon fiber vinyl. Does it just peel off or do you have to glue it down. Looks great, really smooth.

Looks like you really put the dremel to good use! :dremel:

keep up the good work :thumb:

I think it looks pretty cool without the aluminum peice ontop. The acrylic itself is pretty cool. Are you going to paint the aluminum peice or clean it up (shine it).

that tribal acrylic is great! I like the look of it sandwiched under the alu. Really nice glow...

by the way, are you going to do something about the mesh on the side panel (since it's not covered completely by the dragon)...

    Ghetto Tank-O-Matic Mount

    Hey BT'er,

I wanted to post this little update. I have always wanted to get a Tank-O-Matic res to use with my watercooling setup, but the cost for a brand new one in the US was always too much.

I was luckily able to get a used one for a pretty reasonable price. Here is the picture of the res:

Well.. what you see in the picture is all I got. The seller for some reason didn't have the mounting brackets for it.

With that being said, I had to make my own mounting arrangements for the res, if I was going to use it. I couldn't find a US distributor that had just the mounting bracket, so I had to come up with my own.

the only Material I have available was a old 2x4 piece of lumber from a previous home improvement project.

So what I did, was cut the small stand off blocks for the res, and mount it to the rear of the case:

Here is a pic of the blocks covered with some carbon fiber vinyl. I also used some chrome 5mm LED mounts to house UV LED. I plant to put UV Reactive dye in my water cooling setup, and I figure it will make the liquid glow very nicely.

I was very surprised to find out that the Tank-O-Matic was actually very secure in the mount I made.

This was only a test res mount. I wanted to make sure everything worked well, before the frame was painted.

I hope you enjoyed the update. As always, and comments and feedback are appreciated.
