How about primer; paint needs something to latch onto. How long was the dry time between coats? Not sure how you're going to remedy the monster truck look, but side skirts should do the trick, but it might require some fabrication to make it look like part of the winnie.

Love the idea the movie is a classic.

Well both sanding and primer are necessary for paint to stick to a surface like metal so.. really we both were right. Sanding allows the primer to stick and the primer allows the color coats to stick.

There's not a lot that can be done about the position of the W logo. Don't worry as most theme mods are done "in the spirit of" and are not exact replicas. Only the most die hard of Spaceballs fans (and those who read this work log) would know that the W is slightly in the wrong place. I'd never have known if it wasn't pointed out.

I hadn't posted this before, but this is my 3rd try painting this damn thing.

When I peeled off this piece a long strip of paint came off too.

    Almost looks good from here.

But it still looks like crap.

I hereby cancel this mod. I've wasted nearly 3 cans of spray paint on it and would still have to start over agian. But I am not going to. I quit, lock this thread.

    There are better mods ahead.

    Don't give up!

Why don't you just paint it by hand? If you did several small coats of it with a brush, the brushmarks would be minimal, and could be sanded away. Give it a try, don't give up!

Yeah dont quit, I was lookin forward to seeing this project completed

Obviously your Paint is not sticking to your surface, so try something new like hand painting like Matt said or Airbrushing, Etc.

Let me finish my HD PC and I'll look into using paint brushes for the brown stripes.

no nned to quit, it looks like its coming along great! just need to do a little hand painting to touch up some spots thats all. spray paint isn't the best paint anyway, hand painting would probably work better.

I would recommend lighter coats of paint.

A lighter coat would just come up easier.

    Adhesive Vinal

You could always use some adhesive vinal like what they use for signs. Comes on rolls in tons of colors. Easy to work with if your fed up with paint. Best part is if you mess up just peel it off.

As soon as the Superbee is done, this worklog will reopen. I had real problems getting the HD's to behave in my HD PC and I won't let the pitfalls of this mod stop me from completing it.

    See you mid-Sept.

I'm trying to recreate the sticker on the door just like:

But due to lack of any useful software and very little in the way of skills....

And I painted the other side with no problems.
