First off, going to say absolutely amazing work franklin, the think looks beautiful, keep up the great work. now, to hopefully end an argument, cleveland216, you must be thinking revolutionary, because evolution takes millions of years, so technically any change for the better is evolutionary . I think everyone's getting a little ticked off because to come in and say you respect modders with more money and better material more Q.E.D this sucks compared to mods that meets your conditions is unfair. Stick to the preschool teaching of if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it and you'll save yourself alot of problems, and at the very least if there's something you want changed offer feedback as to why you don't like it, or possible suggestions on how to change it for the better.
hmm high grade aluminum is pricey here in the states but you can take lower grade stuff and with some elbow grease buff and polish it up to look like the high grade stuff, it all depends on where and how you look. Anyhow back on topic.... amazing work so far.... I am soo adding a CnC machine to the list umm not sure if this has been asked and what not but could you put the details of the CnC your using so I know what to look out for? or link me to your post if you mentioned it. Thanks.
Wow you are lucky! If I wanted a 500mmx500mm sheet, I'm looking into the at least like $100-$200USD. You all are spoiled in the UK with the prices that you all seem to get, cuz I looked and looked and cant get that kinda of AL here at the prices you specify, unless I am wrong and someone knows where to go and get AL that keep in the states?! If anyone knows where to get AL sheets keep here in the States plz let me know. Would luv to do and AL build, but my M.O. is working with SS.
We get Aluminum for $1.50 a kg. Burn On topic - I absolutely LOVE this mod, no matter what the naysayer(s?) says.
Original post Get your facts straight, your acting like I went on a 15 page rant of how this build sucks! I Didnt! I actually complimented the nice features about his build and told him "Nice Work" at the end of the post. If the some people in the community want to get all bent out of shape because I see difference from build to build over materials used in the build and how that influences the personality of the case, than let them have their coniption. Plus I pointed out to people in the community who use tough materials with every little equipment and make an awesome case are what the case mod community is about. I never said this guy was using all state-of-the-art equipment, I actually never Put Down his fabrication process of his case, plus I stated that was a "Belief" of mine about the community. People have the right to belief different things right or is the Case Mod community not setup in this fashion, where everybody has to think one uniform thought! Seems like that is what you are getting to you when you tell me I am "aggressive and arguementative." I think there is an arguement to be had over building materials in Case Mods and Builds and how that influences the personality of your case and how people will view your case. Moreover, I think there is more ground in this arguement when you couple it with a simple fabrication process. As I stated in further posts, its not the person with the biggest and meanest equipment that makes their case interesting, it the person who does a case that is awesome but built it using simple fabrication technique's. These case's progress the community and the Mod Market place, in displaying to people, who want to achieve something in their build but yet have very little money. To some extent, I believe the future n the Mod World, is not totally in design as it stands right now, but materials and process. I could be Wrong, I will admit there is some agruement here, I see it now as a discussion to be had, though if people want to consider it an arguement than fine! I really dont know what to say beyond that. So I hope this clears things up, Franklin is putting in nice work and I'm sure the case will come out nice!
Bindi didn't say you were being argumentative and aggressive, he said you came ACROSS as, which you did. Read your second sentence, you basically criticized all his work then went on to say how you think another form of work is supperior. This basically made everyone reading your post think you were having a major go at him and for those of us who don't know you (as you are a new member), we saw you having a go at a respected member and retaliated. If you took a step back for a second you should easily be able to see where we are coming from. I know you didn't mean anything buy your comment and I agree with some of the things you said but I will say this again, you could have gone about putting your views forward in a different way.
sigh Cleveland, the point here is that what appears to have basically happened, is you came out of nowhere into someone else's personal log, and appeared to give a "back-handed compliment"... saying, "yeah, OK, you've made some nice bits, but that ain't what a real mod is." Most modders, no matter what material they like to use or the tools they have, don't want someone (especially a stranger) coming into their log (home) and saying stuff like that. Place yourself in the hypothetical... you have a mod with your 'best work' with your 'best materials'... someone comes in and basically says... "You call that modding?! HAH... If only you used Titanium... that's what real modders use! Oh and BTW, nice work." No one is denying your personal aesthetic sense or definition of what a true modder is/does... it is your belief, you are entitled to it.... they are unhappy that you chose this log to go off on your rant. You want to discuss modding aesthetics, the Code of the Modder, etc... that's best done in the general Modding section, or in your personal build log, NOT someone else's. Normally, I'd agree with you so we could get off this OffTopic... but Franklin has already stated he's got some stuff to work out before getting back in the shop... so let's be patient, mmkay?
Just leave that kid alone. He doesn't seem to see how he comes across. It's a bit like: Bindi: You come across aggressive and argumentative. Cleve: I'M NOT AGGRESSIVE YOU MORON!!! Everybody else:
Way to give a nice impression of yourself. What a douche. The project is as awesome as ever, hope to see more of it.
Franklin your work is god-like. May I ask If you will be getting a new rig for the mod as new hardware is coming out all the time? And also I'd like to say that a mod is not to be judged by materials used
I just had to necro this thread... the work here is fantastic. Despite the hate coming out in the last page here, I'm VERY interested in hearing of your progress on this case. This mod is one of my favorites, and I'd really like to know if it ever got completed. What say you Franklin, are you still around - or has the ignorance of this Cleveland chap pushed you away?
