At the hub of the fan is a dead spot; no air moves there. This would in effect leave a chunk of heatercore not cooled. Also obstructions (like a heater core) close to the fan causes turbulence and noise. A shroud is therefore essential. It reduces noise and lowers temps just that bit more.
Its been awhile eh? Finally my spare time allowed for some advancements. Top before wetsanding w/ Rhynowet 1500 grit and power buffing out w/ 3M Perfect It III rubbing compound Top after polishing with Collinates #845 Insulator wax (good ****) Solved my dilemma for a chrome plated PWR switch bezel I dremeled out then filed my bezel plate from chrome stainless steel Spectre brand 4 barrel air cleaner I then epoxied the plates onto the bezel overnight. These new adj C-clamps on opposing sides are great $2.50 each from Menards. I'd bet Home Depot sells them also I dumped the stainless Bulgin switch for a chrome plated momentary push-button switch found at Auto parts store. It accented the chrome much better Here I'm filling the small gap between the plates with PPG red spot putty. I'll later sand it and apply KRYLON chrome to just the putty so plates blend together. I'm debating about finish off the PWR bezel by adding 2 more chrome plates on top
The handle.....the finish on the top......the look of the front bezel....... This is going to look completely stunning when done! -cLoWn
Very nice job mate. Really inventive design for the front bezel, I love it. You really take care in youre work, which i think makes a true modder :> excellant work
That... ...that.... ...that looks ten times better than my dad's bmw when it was new. PERFECT finish. I hope to see a how-to.
Sch-winnnng! (drool) Can I take it from the fact that you've polished the top panel that you won't be fitting the rest of the handle (the top-plate)? No matter, looks stunning anyway. G/job dude. *me wanders off cursing ****ty Halfords primer and cheap cellulose stopper* </envy>
Superb! This case just gets better and better! The shine ... the chrome ... the cutouts ... Eagerly awaiting updates - but the quality of your work is worth the wait
I haven't checked back to this thread in a while.... BUT AWSOME! I love the fan grills and the amount of hard polishing you have put into this.
Truely speechless... That handle, those grills, that finish... oh yeah, and about making a guide for certain aspects, when your finished with this beauty of course, that would be awesome.
