Thank-you very much, the previous picture puts it into perspective, and gives me a better idea of it's size.
It is good to see the reasoning behind asterisk-type symbol.
The whole project looks decidedly at home in it's surroundings.

the golden faces are a bit 2 much in my opinion but the small stripes in the woods just look kickass. independet from personal questions of taste a great case.

    Hugo.B,

You are quite welcome and thank you. The over all dimensions are 10in sq by 16in high.

    s_q_u_e_e,

Thank you very much. It is a bitter sweet ending. I like to be finished, but now I find myself day-dreaming about my next mod. I'm toying with a 8-12in waterfall, or a theme mod. Not sure what yet.

A waterfall? now that seems interesting I would definately like to see where that idea takes you.

Overall a well stealthed case youve got here, it fits in perfectly. And that is one huge screen (completely dwarfs my 26" tv :( )
    Good case well done :thumb:

Hey Pfaffen, this turned out very nicely. I especially like the gold in the slots. What happened to the corner joints though, especially the ones on top? They look a bit loose.

    GreenSabbath,

Thank you very much. The gold in the slots turned out better than I thought they would. They actually, make the case have some depth and character.

WRT to the corners, those did not turn out the way I wanted. :grr: The half lap joints with a mortice and tenon, just did not like all the abuse I put them through. Since I haven't used any glue in the process, making the joints fit exactly has been a challenge. I need them to be tight enough to hold everything together, yet loose enough to be able to pull the pieces apart.

The mortice for the stiles in the top rails are just not deep enough to sit properly, I'll have to go back and re-work those...

Anyway, great eye and I love the progress on Nakamura. :thumb:

    Thanks Pfaffen,

I think one way to fix it (and I definitely think it'd be worth to fix) is to (tell me of this is not possible) use glue on the top panel and just glue those half laps together and then just shorten the tenons a little bit so the top doesn't stick out (if that's actually the problem, it can be hard to tell with pictures).

You could paint in dark red too. That would give a warmer color to the gold.

Not very much. The pages of gold leaf were about $10US and it had 25 pages, that covered the front, side and top. Also a little to experiment with. Had never worked with it before. The flakes were about $8US. It was kind of cool to buy a bag of gold...

    Take care

    DeltaFX,

I tried that, but just did not like the way it came out. It made the gold look more copperish...

That is a good idea, but I kind of like the challenge to build it without glue. :wallbash:

I see so many works that rely more on glue than they do with skill and planning for the cuts. I may try angling the tenons and fit the mortice to better recieve them. The issue, however, is leaving enough wood to remain strong.

    Will keep everyone posted.

I feel the same way (since Yuugou and Sangaku use no glue too). I'm looking forward to see how you solve it. Good luck.

Would it be possible to make boots to cover the seams? (I always cover my mistakes, rather than fixing them!)

In case I haven't said it already- Looks great, Dude!
