Hey this is my first mod ( i think) i did. This was done a few years ago, so the pictures are not that good. I followed the guides posted on bit-tech. one of guides was VU meter (Measures sound levels, louder the sound higher the level ), this was bought of the shelf, i just changed the leds from the ones that came with. The vu meter was made in the bay slot. I made the two sound channels run in opposite direction to each other. i.e left channels goes from left to right when sound get louder and right channel goes right to left. The audio signal was connect to via a mini jack to the speaker out on the back of the pc. Another guide used was the one to make knight rider lights. I tried to put the strip of leds in-between the vu meter lights. Put this mod didn’t work!! Don’t know why, and I have never tried to find out, have not had the time, or the know how. The third guide was making your own fanbus control switches. Six switches were made. Each had three positions, 12v – OFF – 5v. These are used on the fans, I only have three. Only using two *scratch my head and wonder why*,. The two fans came with some leds, I just swaped them for blue brighter one. I also added a cathode blue tube. Anyway, here are the pics. By the way my room as changed since, and two of the switches have broken off, in transportation. pretty nice. got any schematics to show us? it looks like something worth making. that front of the case must be blinding! its got like 25 leds on it. is there a switch for them? that would be annoying while trying to play a game in the dark or something.
I know what you mean, yeah there is a switch, it made the switch just poping out of the bottome of the case. So when i am in the dark, i can tuen them off. Both articles are fomr bit-tech, they should have all the schematics. The knight rider i tried to do can be found here http://www.bit-tech.net/article/82/1 The other article i cant seem to find!!! (Fan bus) check this theard out. I think this is realated to it. But the article is not there. http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=2328&page=1&pp=20&highlight=fanbus+switch I am sure i made a back up of the files, but cant find it at the mo, let me have a look later. will get back to you. Vu meter This was bought from mapins. The vellmans kits they sell, all the parts come with it. You just have to soilder them together. I just changed the LEDs, and made wire onto the leds, so i can place them were i want, instead of putting them on the PCB board. Plus, with the kit, you have to soilder the left, right and ground audio signals to the board, but i soildered them to a mini jack. Then i can plug into the mainboard on the back of the pc. I also bought a "y" spliter, so i plug in vu meter and listen to music. No point having just lights. I had a quick search online http://www.maplin.co.uk/, but cant seem to find the kit. I bought this a few years ago. Try phoneing up, or going into the store. You can buy, single channel, dual- which is stero (one i got), 10 leds, or 20 leds (i got). The leds that come with it are not so bright.
