Yea sorry. I was just too quick to harp on Sniipe. Force of habbit I guess.
Ok back to the build...
No need to troll on people.
Dude, you gotta tell me how you got Lamptron. That's amazing.
Can't wait to see this finished. You've done a lot of good with delrin here...
Honestly, I got to work on tuesday morning of last week and there was an email sitting in my inbox offering to sponsor this project... I was very surprised, but pleased too
No need for Sniipe to be a snot about things just because im a member of a site he doesnt like...
haha, well I wasnt calling you ignorant because of any forum your a member of but more that you were misinformed about the radiator and insulting my project in the same post....
Yup. Well I misread it is all.
Im not used to these 140 rads yet.
Still have to countersink the appropriate holes but here is the front door in all its raw, scratched, metal glory
I'm loving the curves, but should the countersunk bolts sit flush?
He just said he still has to countersink them...
yessir, I countersunk them last night and the panels are all ready for paint - I still haven't decided whether I will be doing a liquid or powder finish but I am going to the painters tomorrow to hammer all that out with those guys.
Powdercoat gets my vote...
Polish gets mine. Saves money, too.
you know I really really wanted to polish these up but I ran into 1 issue - the outside radius' of the braking bends have micro fractures because 1/8" 6061 isnt exactly meant for braking to 90 degrees
paint is unfortunately a must but the powder guys I use are really good and if liquid is in order then I will go that route - I would love to have a wet-sanded polished and buffed coat of fine metallic black paint
1/8" 5052 would bend just nice.
In my field we DO NOT bend 6061.
yep, it was questionable if it would work at all, we did a test and it came out fine so we proceeded. Its just a tad on the brittle side as a forming metal but structurally these panels are very strong.
I wonder how I missed that. I read the line, but it just didn't register at that time.
hehe, its all good mate
here is the latest, got the panel from the laser cutters on extra fast turnaround, everything goes to paint tomorrow morning!
sorry bout the dirtiness and poor lighting, I did this shot literally as quickly as I could so I can work on wiring!
looking great sniipe. seems you are banned on XS?
yeah I am on a temp ban till the 20th for "fighting" even though I didnt swear or call any names in the post....
wow that's lookin terribly good, in my next project i seek to be as ambitious as you have been in your endeavors
