@Maki roll, Thats great idea! :thumb:

@Cheaps, I could use some short term...lol :worried:

@Austin, hmmmm, I re-watched Firefly Serenity movie while sanding them :D

@maestro, just add a little "mad munkybutt" to your ingredients, Ala Cheaps Casserole

I finally got the actuator installed. The cover weighs 8.5 pounds and opened with Firgelli L16-P actuator arm. It's powered by electric motor with gear drive inside that extends single arm back and forth. The L-16 actuator max force rating is 200N, which translates to 45 pounds. Data sheet PDF http://www.firgelli.com/pdf/L16_datasheet.pdf

    Firgelli L16-P Linear Actuator, 100mm Stroke, 150:1 gear ratio, 12 volts @ $100
LAC (Linear Actuator Control Board) @ $0
    Subtotal: $100.00
    UPS Ground Shipping: $15.58
    Grand Total: $115.58

I also purchased the LAC controller for the Actuator.

Well it's about damn time. Post office limbo sucks. We just need someone named Damocles to install a board now.

Wait, that's the old mobo tray. Still waiting on the milling? -or is it that short-term memory thing?

Wow right now it looks like something that will chew your arm off.

But it is very nicely done for sure. Very clean.

@Hukkel - Now that you mention it, the risers and bottom faceplate are kinda toothy looking there...

Thank you!!!! for watching and commenting gang

It's been a crazy week, I'm trying to get another machine shop to help progress on Andrew's build, (just ask Cheaps how often I've phoned or email him) and We're preparing for another project, but no where near as involving as these two, so Yay!!!

We're looking into adding a gas charged spring to the other side of the Tech Station, just as added precautionary measure, in case the actuator ever failed. Several people expressed interest in making ATX version of the CNC Machined Aluminum Motherboard Tray. I'm looking into contracting another shop to make these, so I don't have a cost confirmed yet, but here is what the proposed kit would look like and include,

One Mainboard Tray with four large opening for PSU cables and connections.
One Rear I/O Shield Plate with & PCI slots.
Two triangular Motherboard brackets that connect Mainboard Tray to I/O Shield.
Two reinforcement brackest for triangular motherboard brackets.
    Nine Motherboard Stand-off risers.
    Finish is brushed bare Aluminum.
Includes 6/32 tapered flat head stainless machine screws.

@Asouter, tentative plan is release ATX version, then ITX & EATX, but I'm stil still negotiating with another shop... we are overwhelmed with other retail commitments

@Mankz, Great to hear, I respect your standards for details, Mankz.

@IanW, indeed, I have enuf things to worry about already...lol

The tray looks great. Would love to use it in a build down the road at some point. It's good to hear that business is busy. Some problems are all right to have. Keep up the great work.
