Taking into account heat expansion make your case modding as precise as bridge building.

Thank you my friend, really nice comment.
Imagine that in my country we get temperatures around 40 degrees Celsius at summer.
After different experiments and ....accidents I realized that when you have different multiple pieces of aluminum or steel attached aggressively together, with heat expansion then always
the main problem will be the motherboard bending or contacting. All the pressure somehow affects that area. So now my plans are more precise and careful even if the look simple.
If you notice in the motherboards tray top part there is no connection with the rest of the case. So no added pressure in heat expansion cases. I always like it simple and functional :)

LoL hey mate sup? I was messing with my mind a long time in order to decide what would fit best. I didnt want to go with leds and blink blink's cause this build will aim pure gothic beauty, simplicity and elegance. And also the mod is going to be mostly black matte with touches of black gloss so the fans fit 100% :)

You got some nice goodies there Alex. I like that support piece you made for the motherboard tray, very simple but expertly executed :thumb:.

I ve included a poll just to see what you guys think.
I was considering of engraving in some parts of the case some designs and then powder coating
just to give a little extra gothic touch on this mod. Please tell me your opinion! :)

I voted simple paint because I think the case would get "overdone" if you added more graphics. But then again, I don't know what you are planning so maybe if you keep it a bit simple it could be a very nice touch..

I like the idea, but it might just be a bit too much.

Indeed I thought of that too, I might go plain, I just thought it would be a nice touch if I lets say
I would engraved a small design in the corner of the side panel etc

I voted for the engraving because I believe that if you did it light enough (not deep) then you can have a small detail that isn't too overdone. If you did it deep then the whole case might be too much to look at with designs everywhere.

Just my 2 cents. I love this project. So now I crack a beer and wait patiently :thumb:

Thanks mate, now I have a more clear picture in my mind of what I am going to to I will only add a small design strategically placed where it wont seem much. :)

I wish I could visually describe what I am thinking of. If you did a light etch all over the entire case it would be stunning. If it was too deep then I think it would be too much.

However, if you did some light (or deep) etchings around the laser cut sections to accent them then I think that would work well, i.e. around the back panel sections, the rad grills, side panel window, USB ports, etc.

If I knew how to use these sketch-up programs I could describe my ideas better. However, I'll just sit back and let the artist do the work. You always know where to take things and what is too much.

I was thinking something like that. But, with circles and the flow you currently have. Not with the cat and the trees. :hehe:

Once you powdercoat over it then it won't be so obvious and showy and will blend. But I will be happy with whatever you choose to go with.

I'll crack open another beer and wait for the next update. :thumb:

Hmmm. Both sound Good imo. But since your build is based on the book, perhaps you might find what you're looking for there. It's good to break old ways sometimes. If thats what your after. Like I said before, the grills already have your name on this build. I think the book will be your best guide. diviantart.com has some good art work. Might find some inspiration searching "gothic". A color scheme might grab you. SOOoo looking forward to what you come up with!:thumb:

You are in my mind my friend, I was thinking about that too, if I "light" engrave all the case will blend really nicely with the rest of the theme but it will be a real PITA!!!
I might do some etching here and there and then powder coat it, it wont be very visible though, the main thing I worry is the photo shooting at the end, such engravings will be visible only if you approach really close and also move from left to right due to lighting.
I will make a small sample later and get more opinions! :) Thanks for the tips bro. :thumb:

You are right, my idea though is based on the book more like an artistic approach of the year 2047 in order to combine my art with Mr.Roberts art of writing. Deviantart is the best place but in this build everything is designed by me based on the circular theory. Its not an easy task cause its not simple drawings. They are based on maths and physics. Thanks for the tips too bro! :thumb:

Yeah you might be able to pull it off. It would be very unique thats for sure!~

One point of concern: is it possible that the layer of powder coat is a bit too thick and blends out the engraving? IDK how deep/wide you want to engrave, but it might get a bit like heavy painting if you don't watch out. Maybe anodizing is a better (but more costy) solution.

On the other hand, I'm more familiar with industrial powder coats, so maybe its not a problem if you get a more refined coat.

I thought about that too my friend, indeed I have a concern, at the end I might go with a pattern technique not a particular design, I still think about alternative solutions. Also I might do small designs in some parts of the case and they will be somehow deep, about 1 mm or 0.75mm. :thumb:

Thanks man your opinion always counts!

So I checked it, and it appears that a powder coat is about 0,001 to 0,1 mm thick. It should be no problem if you ask for a thin layer considering you will be going in for almost 1 mm.
