Thx colossous. I really dunno about screws. Just regular screws that i had. They didnt loose sharpnes even after cutting. It actualy didnt take that long since there were 5 circles to cut. around 2 hrs from be4 scatching to finished cutting.

    thx x06jsp!

    Hi Guys.

    The continuation....

I like smoked glass look, so i wanted to give it to acrylic window on teh side panel, i sanded it with 1000 grit and it was fine. But problem is that it gets "dirty" look very easily. and fingers stay on it. so i decided to go over with opaque coat.

then i wanted to get more blur, but how? we dont have fancy special finishes here :nono: :sigh: i tryed some pattern - mosquito net under plexy.

and it was fine for a few days... then this hapened:

Acrylic started to degrade :wallbash: It obiviusly didnt like clear coat.
Anyone knows how to avoid this behaviour?

I think i'll just make alu panel and give up on window idea.

    Happy hollydays!

i remember reading somewhere about a liquid that would give acrylic the translucent look just by rubbing it on. i hope someone where knows what it is.
also, did you change the logo color from green to red?

That woud be great, but if it is "special" liquid just 4 this purpose, idont think we will have it here in croatia :/. I tryed looking shops 4 any kind of special finishes and no luck.

And yes, i changed logo to red. Green didnt blend well with the room colours. I'll post that pictures later.

That liquid would be acetone :) You can 'frost' you plexi with it, so it might work for your purpose. It doens't affect AC-Ryan acylic though, but it will affect most other brands.

Was that extruded plexiglas? The cell cast stuff is more resistant to paints.
You may have found a trick I've been looking for. I've been trying to age and stain plexi like the stuff I used on Hypnotoad, so the type of plexi and paint is something I would like to know.

Acetone works good as a plexi glue, too.:D have fun! Read the safety stuff on the can. Acetone STINKS!!

    pic

here is pic of acrylic and coat, but if u look it closely ull c that degradation is concentrated around edges, and it is consistant with finger paterns when u hold it in hands. im sure fingerprints are somhow conected to this. u better try on small piece 1st. gl.

Possibly you had some oils/grease/etc on your fingers while handling the acrylic; they do attach acrylic over time, and the paint probably didn't help either.

I generally "frost" acrylic by wet-sanding with 200-400 grit sandpaper.
