    Hi everyone!

As my last project failed miserably due to no money and alot of examns ive decided to work on a new modding project. This _will_ include some hardware, but its on a larger scale than normal computers so im going to need some advice and input!

    The beauty!
To make a long story short, a friend of mine was kind enough to donate this lovely old Gas Pump to me, free of charge (delivery included!).

The pump itself has been standing in my garden since november and i finally have the time to fix it! Its made of solid metal which means this weighs a TON! I dont have pictures of this, but i stripped it, since the pump didnt work anymore. It's a bit rusty but nothing that cant be fixed. Theres a good few layers of paint on it so that needs to come off aswell! But let me get to the point.

    The plan
Ive been thinking of transforming it into a Party-device with everything included :). Atm. the plan is to build a new framework in wood, because the metal is way to heavy, and very fragile because of all the rust. When this is done, im planning on making into some kind of mini-bar/jukebox/fridge thingy. It needs a new layer of paint and some minor fixes (the foot on the pump is totally ruined, but i figure it will be easy to fix once i get the new framework ready.)

I have an old mini-fridge laying around:

And im planning on building this into the bottom of the pump, if it's possible to get rid of the green coating (its way to big compared to the fact it only holds 8*0.33cl cans).

I also just bought a mini-draught kit (spelling :p? or is it even a word :C) which i plan to strip from the case aswell in order to make it fit into the pump. It looks like this:

I was thinking i might cut a hole somewhere in one of the doors and make a little stand for a glass to you can refill once in a while :).

Besides, i got enough components lying about to make a fully functional 100gb music setup, which i plan to monitor from eigther a flat-screen build into the window as you can see, or via. my PDA, IF! i can get it to connect to the PC directly (or atleast to the PC memory).

    What i need from you
Is some extra idea's on how to pimp this baby to the max. I've you see this and think "Wow it would be so awesome if you could do this or that" please let me know :D. I've been thinking about how to costumize it all winter so im fresh outta ideas now!

Also, how would you suggest i remove the paint already on it? Some chemical paint-remover or perhaps by sanding?

    Greets Mr IK

It woud be really awesome if you could mod it so that nice cold beer came out of the original pump. So you can fill a pint like you would a car.

If you are short on money you should really SELL that pump. I am not sure about the European market, but in North America vintage service station paraphenelia is always in demand. I don't know the age of the pump you have, as I am not familiar with European stations, but if it's over 35-40 years old it could be worth a good chunk of change. I'd definitely recommend looking into that before you cut it up or throw out any of the internal components.

My father has several of the tall standing pumps and in the past has sold a few (in rough shape) for hundreds to thousands of dollars.

    I must agree with MaximumShow.

However if you are determined in making a computer out of it... here is my take.
For the first picture mod.... you can put instead of the analogue indicator, a screen with computer information, or even better (but perhaps more complex) old style indicator, like the current one, but linked to the computer (USB?), and it shows you the computer temperature, CPU usage etc..
Also change the hose... I mean if you will be using it, you don't want gas in tour drink, and put a those machine where you can select your drink and it pop-out, and have everything refrigerated.

Personally I think it would be best to keep the old style of the pump. I don't know why... but it makes me think of Bio-shock.

    (first post, woot)

    That's a nice pump!

Quite old too I reckon, since it says "øre/L" and not "kroner/L" (1 krone equals 100 øre, and the cost these days is around 10 kroner per liter)

Anyway, I don't really have any specific ideas at the moment to how you could do this, but just be sure to not reuse any old parts in which the beer will go through. Not unless you can clean them properly. Wouldn't want to ruin the good beer :).

That would make a cool server case

you could chrome the gas handle, paint the white a glossy black car paint, and replace the red with a glossy ferrari red paint. The window could show stats like CPU useage, HDD useage, temps

Maybe you could make a cast of the pump for use later if you find out it is valuable.

I thought about selling it, but that would be no fun. I really dig the retro look, and im determined to keep it.

Unfortunately, the pump what wrecked, and the idea of putting in some kind of new pump, and use the original handle for beer just seems to complex for me.

I havent thought about using the analogue wheel as a thermometer for the computer, but i will definately keep that in mind. Perhaps ill just get a piece of aluminium and make a mini-copy of the original one, and then put it somewhere else, just for looks.

Btw. I have seen these things go for 3000-5000 dkr (~630-1000 dollars), but as i said, this is so much cooler to keep, and i really believe i can make a nice big project with all the space this beauty offers.

Using the handle shouldn't be too hard - put several thin plastic hoses down the fuel hose into an array at the nozzle. pump drink down them with the beer tap you've got above (obviously mod the mechanism!)

Hehe ill think about it. The handle should be cleanable. Think its aluminium so there's no rust on it...

Since it's a party machine, you need to mod the back into a dolly,(Don't know the European term.) Essentially put two wheels on the back and a handle near the top.
Can you add some kind of light-show lamp? You're in Denmark, so I assume weed will be a factor.:D

This sounds like an interesting project, you've got to have beer in there, its an essential party item :). Looking forward to seeing progress pics once you get started on this one!
