As I look out on the horizon I see no Luminglas in sight. SO. What to do until I have to turn my attention to the interior of the case? I nixed the idea of trying to integrate another LCD into the project at the last second. I have an old Antec case I'll save it for. I did however come up with a preliminary design for the case front plexiglass treatment (nothing new there). I've not decided whether or not to mount it using bolts or plain old double sided tape. The thing being that I don't want to to take a chance and destroying any part of the case that isn't easily replacable or readily visible. In this design I'll eliminate the CD stealth bezel as it dosen't lend itself to integration into anyone's mod scheme of this make of case at all. It's pretty close to where I want it to be but I'll probably round out the corners to match the rounded corners of the case. Also in this initial design I've tried to integrate the gear theme into it. I won a bunch of smaller gears off of an eBay auction for cheap in the hopes that I might be able to use one or more of them in the desgin as maybe a "sculpture" of sorts but it did not pan out. Hopefully time and the wife will permit me to attempt to cut this out of some black plexi. The black mirrored stuff I decided not to use as when the back mirrored stuff was scratched even minutely it would be VERY evident on the front of the piece. It sucks to work on something so long and find out it's totally un-useable. If the missing 'glas doesn't turn up I'll then turn my attention to the polishing of the large gear rings since they are the centerpiece of this project. After that it'll be the side panel cladding and the exterior is done. I had a devil of a time finding aluminum panels to exactly match the Lian Li's. The next best thing? Use spare panels from the same make of case! I couldn't find them anywhere so I emailed the good people here in the states at Performance PCs. I shop a lot with them and they didn't have any listed on the website but put some up for sale right away simply because they had some lying around! I love these guys! Anyways, enough rambling. Until next update!
Luminglas! Curses! Well. After almost month of waiting for the 'glas to get here it arrives on my doorstep totally unannounced. I rip it out of the packaging only to find out IT'S GREEN! Good thing I've got the multicolor one to fall back on as it has SOME blue in it. Hopefully this weekend I can get it mounted.
Are you going to cut the LianLi Casebadge away?? If yes: Pleeeeaaaase may I get it??? Nice Lian case!!! Welcome to the Lian Li club
Misc. Quick Update Okay. Having a dilemma to work through with the 'glas I decided to concentrate my energies elsewhere. Thus I turn my attention to the inside of the case. I came up with this. It's my wiring solution. Instead of trying to hide all the wires I'll have them in plain sight. This piece was cut from a piece of black mirrored acrylic. The hardware was purchased for FrozenCPU. I still have to make my own set of molex extensions, sleeve thmn black, and route the wires to the other end of the tubing and cap them off with another molex connector. This one will go on the slanted area inside the case after some holes are drilled to accomodate it. I am working on other pieces of acrylic to help accent the interior of this mod. Any questions let me know. I'll have more later on this week.
Smaller update 5-2 Had a small setback this weekend. Didn't do any of the interior mods I had planned to as I caught a nasty bug. As such I only have a small update. I finally got around to swapping out the purple neon ring for a blue one. I had hoped to get the Luminglas mounted at the same time to save a lot of work (unscrewing all those bolts and acorn nuts. Here's what it looks like now. See? No big deal. But speaking of setbacks. I got home Friday night to find out that my generic 19" LCD's backlight had given up the ghost. I was so disgusted because I was back down to the old 17" LCD I was also running right beside it. I leave a message with the wife who was still at work. Well Saturday morning when the wife gets home I have waiting for me one of these. Not only that it came with a twin! So I have 2 brand new 19" monitors to run on the 6600GT that I got earlier im the week. Here they are on my junked up computer table. Not too bad. Hopefully I can get something done with the case later this week.
That LG monitor is nice as hell, how does it stand up perfomance wise? I've never had to chance to use one, but I have seen them before, and they're defintally sleek as hell.
Thats one bad ass design, great work! (I wish modders would move from blue LEDs, but still a cool mod)
Blue is still a cool color tho, but its soo standard now a days. Im currently using green and im still loving it! I love those LCD's
woh hoh this case got sweet rather fast I was actually planning on integrating gears somehow into my skyline case, but i still cant figure out what I want to do with it oh and I like the plexi idea (maybe put some lighthing behind the writing)
So do I! I've got a lot of things going on right now that pulled me away from this project just when I was getting steam going. As SOON as I get some free time I'll be back in the saddle and will get this thing completed. I plan to go watercooled soon in the future so I've been planning that out. Probably Polarflo since the AC stuff seems EXTREMELY hard to get in. I'd rather NOT wait months to get parts in since this is my main rig. I have another machine I'm going to switch to when I pull out all the hardware on this box and I started modding that. Nothing special but It looks like it's taking on a life of it's own. I may have a project log of that soon. It's the Big Red Monster.

i think this project is realy cool, i dig the fan surrounds/grills. The only thing i dont really like is the car radio accent lights, id have mounted them inside the case personally. Seems they would be less likely to be kicked or knocked off that way. keep goin tho subscribed!
Thanks. Sorry for no updates in a while but life gets in the way sometimes. The project was in limbo for a while but I have only recently had a chance to revive it. The Lumindisk is still eluding me. It seems SO HARD to get the solid blue color I'm after. I may just skip this part of the project and deal with it last. I am in the process of ordering some WC gear. The AC stuff is REAL hard to get right now so I'm sourcing out other components. The Innovatek and Polarflo stuff is looking pretty good although I don't particularly like the barbs on the Polarflo blocks. Got the Innovatek HPPS PLUS 12v pump, Innovatek Single Fan rad, AC Aquatube res mounted in an Aquabay and various knock-knoacks already and just waiting for the last bits to arrive. As for the radio accent lights. They stay on pretty good. Haven't had an issue with them yet. And they look much better in person than in the pics. Everyone that's seen this beast in person LOVES them.
Very very nice, love the gear theme you got going on there. Only thing I would change is the color of the neon and leds but thats all up to you. And by the looks of the pictures, it is a very extreme burst of blue neon you got going on there. On the pictures the color looks very solid and intense but I guess in real life it isnt? So far so good, like this project very much and cant wait for any updates. Watercooling is very interesting, so ill be sure to check this log again soon.
Just ordered the final battery of WC gear. Thanks to Modsquad and the other AC worshippers, I've caught the AC bug. Not trying to jump on any bandwagons or anything but the quality of that gear is pretty outstanding. I ordered a Cuplex XT CPU Block just now from Sharka now that they've got the A64 mounts back in stock. What sucks is that I only just received the chromed Polarflo blocks for both CPU and GPU! May sell those but I've got another project in the works that I could use them on. I've also ordered 8x1 compression fittings with 1/8" thread to match up with the fittings with the rest of the WC components. I'm new to WC'ing but I just cannot get past how small the 6mm tubing actually is. The Plug-N-Cool stuff is cool but it just bothers me on a subconcious level. And now I have the problem of finding a new block to go with my 6600gt AGP gpu or just bite the bullet and go 6800 and get a big bad AC unit for it. Life is starting to calm down enough for me to plan all this out but there won't be any updates with pics for awhile. Sorry. Kinda late to change out every single light and LED in the project but don't think I haven't thought about it. Not very many other colors to go with that aren't being used heavily right now. As for the burst of neon, well it LOOKS that way but it really isn't very much brighter than the LED's in the fans I've got runnig. I was a little leery about running it all the time so I hooked it to one of the power switches in my Noise Isolator. I accidentally left it on overnight recently and it's been on ever since. Lights up the room nicely when it's dark. Updates soon! Thanks for reading.
