Nice project. Love the doors idea.
cheers guys for comments apprichiated
not really a full update as such been busy this week with work!!
but alas i was getting fed up of doing all the work of a old table in the garage so i built this workbench! not bad for £40
should allow me to get a bit more done as can be a little more organised now
only thing i did was managed to get power button srewed in and thats bout it more soon promise!!!
cheers as always guys
Well i just wanna send a real big thanks to andrew over at foxconn for sending me a new motherboard
the FOXCONN X58 Renaissance
so really happy with this cant wait to actually get it all up nd running now!!! just cpu and hdd
andway whilst looking at things this morning i decided that i wasnt perticually happy with the psu bay/holder so ive decided to rip it out and make one out of acrylic. as it will allow me to flip the psu and hide the cables much easier!
as you can see have started when fitted will update again
untill next time people!!
well as promised i got the new psu bay in place and while looking at it i decided that the orange inside partition was just not right for this build! so i hacked up another peice of acrylic and made a new one
now i just have to drill the access holes for the water cooling tube to go through thinksing about using these http://www.koolance.com/water-cooling/product_info.php?product_id=703 to access though hole to allow easy disconection
also been looking at this board its a very difficult board to water cool as the vrm nb/sb aint standard so cant use most blocks only have till april to finish this build so cant learn to mill and produce my own in such a short time any ideas about what products i could use? i know modsquad is having some special one made for his build by stinger blocks!! any1 feel up for a challenge???
anyways let me know what you guys think and rate this Mod please
this is a fantastic mod so far! love the psu mount
sorry no update today been ill as hell......always last to get it!!!
spenc259 cheers man apprichiated!!
well having a few dilemmas at the mo as been thinksing about the colour sceme and the whole candy orange my just be a bit to harsh on my eyes!!!! just started getting back into the whole airbrushing thing also and detail art work. and as i used to be a free lance citidal miniture painter was thinking of some custom work on this beast of a thing. still keeping the gt500 theme but maybe something like this
im likeing the idea of this last one at the moment let us know what you all think and hopefully i will be ok to get on with some stuff tomorrow!!
I love flames!
Especially for your mod
dont really like the flames. maybe something with thick lines, more in style with the two verticals on the front?
great mod anyhow
well as i pomised a while ago i said i would show a full pic of both wings mounted in full!!!................and here it is. was getting quite stressed out thismorning as couldnt get the damn wings level, but a bit of persistance and i got hrough that pain barrier!!!
ok a few pics
getting there now!! was rather frustrated by this point
just need to find some way to secure them when up now..thinksing a small hook should do the trick!!! been looking online to find any mods with full gull wings but alas cant find any! if any1 has pics show me please!!!
i would also like to give a massive shout out to the guys over a Roccat for donating a Roccat kone for use when im at the Mfestival in april!!! cheers guys really apprichiated
a few pics are in order
so cheers for that markus @ Roccat much apprichiated (check there stuff out really good)
anyways alpaca and mino! cheers for the comments.... alpacha i can understand your concern about the 2 verticals but i dont see as an issue as can swapp out the plexi really easily now but so not so bad...
Mino...I love flames 2!!!!
its just in the end i have to be the one looking at this monster of a case and i feel now that the orange is just to much and i wouldnt be able to airbrush the sponser logo's onto it that easily... i guess i could put my hand to pinstriping but its not the look im going for. any sugestions let me knwo yeah. after all it for everyones viewing pleasure!
untill next time folks!!!
For the doors mayby you can make something similar to a car hood with the metal rod holding the hood up.
Lol! I guess Finnish does sound exotic to others. That "kone" means machine btw. Nice looking gear anyway. Looking forward to seeing more.
Oh, and "taito" means skill.
lol , I was thinking about Taito (coin op producers)
Anyway, for the the look you can try maybe the dark blue/black look, or the retro hot rod style (candy pearl), why not?
I'm looking at the Roccat website, as I own a modders website, and they have some cool products, I'm in love with the keyboard
But... they don't have a reseller in Italy, but they produce the italian layout?
Sooo strange, anyway, I would like to have one!!
U could use gas bonnet lifts( i think they called that) for the gull wing doors...it should work...i think...
cheers for comments guys!
*supa_m* origioanlly i was looking at adding gas struts to kepp the doors open but i really cant afford them at the moment as the are around £40 each then the brakckets work out at £30 as well so i guess i will be going for a car bonnet rod look as space beleive it or not is now at a premium with this due to large amount of w/c equipment going into it.
*javerh* wow i always wondered what was the meaning behind the roccat naming quite interesting really and as you said guess it does sound exotic really
*mino* yeah am considering going down that black road with the blue true flame effect something along these lines http://www.howcast.com/videos/82844-Killer-Blue-Real-Fire-Airbrushing
will update again soon just got to cut all these damn bolts down
There are quite a lot of alternatives for holding the doors up. You could use a briefcase style bracket. Or the type of bracket you get on horizontal cupboards to keep the door up.
Have you had a look at a scrapyard to see how much gas struts are. They may not be brand new but a bit of a clean they should do the job.
the problem with most gas struts is they are made for lifting up car bonnets/doors etc and the force that they give out would literally rip the case in two and as i only need them to lift around 1lb they have to be specially ordered hence the cost of them! as i said space is the issue now as have very little room like maybe 1cm!! therefor the idea for something similar to your everyday car bonnet think there called prop rods or somethin
Agree with the "gas piston" crowd, it would be the nuts in my book. As far as the Koolance disconnects, I've been using nearly those exact ones with no issues for 3 months now. Highly recommended. I would suggest, though, that you get an extra male connector. It makes bleeding the system much easier and basically eliminates the need for a dedicated bleed valve.
Nice work so far, look forward to following this one!
Fro the flames, you can take a look at the flame master, Mike Lavallee !

Funny. In Danish, it's "wife".......
