looks like a great start. Are you going to leave the cut edges of the wood raw?

I love that you are using torx drive screws. If I was King of the world Torx would be the only kind of screw/bolt/nut allows. Anyone cought making a flat drive screw would be hung as an idiot.

Noticed on some of your countersinks that the hole was jagged, I have seen that with multi flute countersink bits. You should use a Countersink bit like this (the top 2 on that page)
a single cutting edge counter sink will leave smooth round counterisnk holes.

Sweden, Switzerland, N. Louisiana, where ever you are the project's looking good.:D How does VRay stack up against The other render apps, Maxwell and so forth. VRay demo is 30 days. I see your build is shaping up to look like the render. That's part of the trinity, for me! Awesome, Mulit-level.:hip:

Looking good so far, keep it up! :) and for the small mark on the screw whole if your painting the whole case try get hold of some filler and smooth it down until it blends in to the touch.

Maybe you could use some tarnish to darken the cuts on the wood so they're closer to the color in this picture:

    Thank you all ! :)

nlancaster : i won't paint the wood or anything, it will be like it is now. and yes, torx is the best :D
i used a cheap countersink bit, but i don't think that it is too bad, since the screws hides it.

LooseNeutral : i think Vray is better then maxwell or others rendering engines. I've tried quite a few others, but Vray gives me much better result and more "control" then what i had with the others.

BiotecVirus : thanks, but it won't work, since I won't paint it.

perplekks45 : maybe, but i'm not sure if it would affect the black sides somehow.

2nd update coming up later today

    Nothing wrong with that.

You should put some clear varnish on it then, to seal the wood. That will keep it from getting ground in dirt, or stained from handling it.

Flat clear varnish will basically look exactly like cut wood.
Satin Clear will give it a slight shine, but not glossy.
Gloss Clear will make it look glossy. :D

nlancaster : i'll see if i'm going to treat the wood somehow when the case is finished, i haven't decided yet.

    anyway :O second update now

    UPDATE 2

today i cut the hole for the psu and the motherboard tray.
    i used my router :

that's one cut, 3 more to go :

ready for the second one :

    done :

    3rd one :

and after a 4rth cut, here it is :

then i used the same rechnique to cut the psu hole :

i started to cut the slope on the side panels, but it went wrong :( the guide thing i used sliped back 1-2 cm, so the cut went wrong and i had to stop or else i would have cut the case :

i also started to work on the side panels window, i still have to file down some parts of it :

I'm thinking about getting the side panels made by a cnc router, the round edges are quite hard to achieve and i have 7 of those windows to cut.

i will soon order some parts from performance-pcs.com but i'm a bit short on money :/

anyway, that's all for now :thumb:

thanks for reading and comments are welcome !

This is looking fantastic mate! The shape and overall design is very pleasing to the eye. Sometimes wooden cases can seem too thick or bulky, but here it just fits!

Your renders look amazing, and progress so far is looking good. This is certainly going to be a high quality build.. one to watch for sure.

Very intersting render and the first step you've done it's well done :thumb:
Am I wrong or your plywood has a different cover on each side ?

Maybe an electric jigsaw is better than the router for the main cut..... then you could round up the corners with the router or dremel and refine the 4 sides with a file ;)

I would have use a 3in or 4in hole saw to create the 4 corners, then jigsaw or router to join them up. :thumb:

Very nice renders, and very impressive work so far! Shame the guide slipped during the angle cuts.

If I may ask, how do you setup your environment to render? I have 3ds with Vray as well and can never quite eek out renders like that. (I have borrowed the scene from vray-materials.de and just swapped in my own cases but I feel like I'm cheating. I can't recreate it either, so any help would be great. Thanks!)

What he said! Vray feels a bit like renderzone but getting good nfo is sparse at best. I got The Vray demo and now only twenty eight days left to play with it. Lots of money they all want for these apps! thanks:thumb:
