im doing my first case mod in about a week...but before i do, i want to run a few drawings by u guyz first. i'm using a clear case like the orac3's, and im making a custom liquid cooling system, and adding lexan panels on exterior for pimpness, then many mods of small scale all over the place. i'll have some drawings up tonight hopefully
Why do you need such a STRONG pump? I've seen some people use full-metal pumps ment for home-plumbing. They are STRONG, reliable and virtually silent, but also usually totally overkill for PC-use if you don't have tons of blocks that need high flow and/or a radiators outdoors..
First off, please use the edit button to reduce the number of posts. If you forgot something you needed to say, you can go back and add it in later. I'm not sure what you mean by "strong" as in strong compared to other computer water cooling pumps or strong as in a well pump or something but the Laing D5 pump is nice. For radiators, I don't have much experience outside the Black Ice family but the Black Ice Gen 2 Stealth pumps provide great cooling, are quite pretty and are quite affordable as well. When you say you're making a "custom liquid cooling system" are you making all the blocks and everything yourself or is it custom to the point that you're buying everything and putting it together? Either way, good luck and mod on.
first off, im honored to have you reply on my thread greensabbath...second, i am running cooling to north and south bridges, the cpu, 2 video cards, 4 ram modules, and my hdd...so i need 2 strong pumps
customm as in 50/50 ill make some suff, ill buy some stuff.....a lot will be me, a drill press...and blocks of lexan to be milled
there is an edit button for a reason. for a good rad: thermochill P.A. series or use a heatercore. pump: laing D5 DCC+ with petra's top best: go for an iwaki. nb, sb, and def ram dont need water cooling. maybe nb if ur uber overclockin.
lol honored that greensabbath graced you, but then you ignore what he said about the double posting. Please dont? As for the mod, where are those drawings that were promised?
The drawings were almost done...then I got kicked of of that comp so the dockmaster could use it for business..i live on a boat...in a marina. My comp has no scanner, sop i was doing it there, and when my stuff was about 10 minutes from done, i had to go to my comp...I'll have em up today hopefully... Oh, and my ram are running mega hot...so imma cool em down wit da system...and the bridges cuz im highly clocked always...and i never shut my comp down...on 24 a day, 7 a week....thats wy... good reason amirite? the ram coolers will be two copper blocks milled to fit over the 4 modules...then ill put some artic silver between them...the coolant will run from one side to another via a milled valleys going horizontally across the vertical ram...then to the other module via built in transfer pipes... the valleys will be deep to allow for quick and easy flow. when built, it will form a solid peice.
k, pics are scanning now... Warning...this is a window view only...and it's done by hand... i'll photoshop a full design when i get enough time...i have to do some really big school projects for next few days... wait... it says i cant post attachments... wut do i do?
You'll need to get a photo hosting account like photobucket. That should do for the beginning. Its free too. Good luck.
huh? Oh youre posting them as attachments. thats a no-no. Unless i misinterpereted you and for some reason you really cant post? But otherwise you have to upload the pics to a hosting site site as photobucket or imageshack and then like to it in your post, like this "". No quotes or parenthesis, obviously. You cant post attachments untill you have a bunch of posts.
is it clear enough? i'll make a full model on autocad, or photoshop the design...but i'll do that later...just look at it and tell me wut u think... i did't draw the wiring cuz its not too important.. imma mod the psu so i can put it in a shiny alluminum cover along w/ the cd drive; i'll make the plug for the psu go to the back. the hdd are turned bottoms facing out, and mounted on a lexan rack. the hdd cooling blocks are between them(there are 4) the ram is 1 block of copper milled to wrap around the 4 modules, w/ coolant running from one end to the other, then back again.the 2 video cards are 8800 gtx's in sli...they arent so big when liquid cooled(no huge@$$ fan) the cooling system is just like the dark blades...only a lot smaller, and it runs 6 hoses out. i will have to add bigger reservoirs, or just make several more small ones fit inside... I'm going for a clean look, and it will have custom designs printed on the reservoirs to make them look like weird radioactive cores (imma put fake fuel rod assembly models inside em w/ blue led) i want the system to look like a sort of nuclear power system...i'll put in a good few of blue cold cathodes lights the case is fully clear from all sides, but the opposite side of the window will mostly be covered by a homeostasis logo. the front is two peice lexan w/ a plexiglas square halfway in front w/ 3 switches on it. it is yellow and black warning striped and has 3 covered toggle switches. the top is power. the bottom 2 are the cooling system. there will be a reset hidden near the bottom of the case on the front so it doesnt mar the looks. the active light will be in the form of a big red light like you would see on the side of a power switch in movies...its round and plain...but about 1/2 an inch in diameter. the cd drive is modded so the cover is hidden, and the tray cover is flush w/ the lexan.
To cool EVERYTHING in one loop you're going to need a 120x3 radiator of some kind. Best: Thermochill PA120.3 Most cost effective: http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=200&products_id=4185 Your current plan doesn't take the size of the radiator into account, but most likely you will want to mount it on the top of the case. As for pumps you need a pump or set of pumps with a massive combined head rate to overcome the combined restriction of such a long loop with so many blocks in it. You might want to get a dual DDC top: http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=201&products_id=20552 And bolt two of these to it: http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=201&products_id=20655 And to cool your video cards nothing compares to the craftsmanship and performance of Eddy_EK's full cover blocks. http://ekwaterblocks.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=21_31_42&products_id=145 Personally I would recommend using 7/16" ID 5/8" OD tubing. It will offer the best mix of reduced bend radius and performance. Using anything smaller for such a long loop will lead to poor thermal performance. Only down side is you'll have to use only 1/2" metal barbs because the tubing will be nearly impossible to get off plastic ones. The upside however is that you don't have to use clamps. And from here forward PLEASE stop double-posting and put more effort into your spelling and grammar.
Thank you, but the reason I use pathetic grammar and spelling is not because I want to, but rather, I have to. I have very little time to do forum chatting and typing, so the faster I can type up an understandable message, the better. However, when i have time for relaxing, I will use better grammar...like now. Now, the system is a triple pump. 1 pump per loop. The largest loop will be the cpu, but it will not be very hard to pump, as there isnt much in the way of blocks. The radiators are small because there are several. I am planning on 1 on the left and 1 on the right side. there will possibly be another for the hdd to be separate as well. I will draw up the design on paint and have it up w/ in the hour... Oh, and the edit thing...I'm still learning. I'm used to 4chan boards...there is no editing there...lol so bear w/ me...I'm packing some serious |\|3w|34g3... there will be a slight delay... its harder to draw than I originally planned. But it's alright...it is very detailed and realistic. For better understanding of my cooler system, look at darkblades radiator setup...and his overall cooling system...mine is quite similar in design to his...
Triple posting now? You're supposed to edit the first post, not edit the post and repost it. On topic: You seem to have a very ambitious plan and to me it seems like you know what you are doing. Good luck, and i hope to see a project log on it soon.
Then don't be surprised if nobody takes the time to read your incomprehensible posts in order to answer your questions. If you don't have the time, then we don't either. And even if you cut your loop in half the video cards alone would warrant a 120x2 radiator. And with all the space you will waste trying to fit 3 water-cooling loops into one case you could have saved yourself a ton of money by simply using one single large radiator.
