Had an idea to stealth the cdrom in HPresII , but not a conventional stealth , for this i would need to fabricate a remote eject button for the cdrom!

Thought that since this is a multimedia base! why not incorp in the base as well.

First was to find a the victem :p an old 2X cdrom would be perfect..

I liked the shape of the Button itself and that it has the Eject arrow on it would be perfect for the mod.

Next was to unsolder the micro switch from the cdrom pcb! these are great lil switches, perfect ,reliable and very very small!(also very good momentary switches for atx on/off solutions)As circled i simply unsoldered the 4 tabs...
2 are the actual switch the other 2 are more anchors for the outer metal casing.

Once unsoldered and cleaned up, next was to attatch my own wiring that will run upto the DVD that will be installed.

Next was to dremel a small rectangular hole for the button to come thru.
And secure it to the rear. using a small brace and glue setup.

The 2 circled solder points are the switch in the DVD(this one being old crapper in case of a stuffup!)

But these are the points to solder the remote wire harness to.

and WhaLaa! it works, a simple but yer effetive way to add remote eject.

Of course the end result and wiring will be a lot tidyer but this give you guys a idea of the mod.

    Cheers

    Is that a Ram tree?

Btw good jo. How do you get your cuts so small? I usualy use a small file and drill holes to get small cuts but it takes allot of work and it is a pain in the arse.

Looks good...are you going to repaint the button?

Also, the metal you places in front of the fan grill...won't that a) block the air flow in or out, and b) possible create a bit of noise? Just wondering.

    Keep up the good modding!
