Project: HTPC - [style] UPDATE 6/9 PICS ADDED!

    Project .::HTPC - [STYLE]::.

    Housing: - Sony Mini HiFi Component System

    +Amplifier with Graphic Equalizer (VFD)
    +AM/FM Tuner with 20 Presets and Timer (VFD)
    +Compact Disc Player

    I will be using the CD player housing for my HTPC

    Hardware:

    +VIA Epia M10000 Nehemiah ITX (SFF) Motherboard
    +60 Watt ITX Powersupply
    +Sony Slimline CDR/DVD
    +128MB DDR PC2100 Ram (Low Profile .8")
    +2.5" Seagate 20GB Harddrive
    +CrystalFontz 631 USB LCD Red
    +IRMAN

    work done:
    Gutted CD PLAYER
    Kept 4 original buttons, soldered leads onto 3 of them
    Kept Power Button - Power lead with clip for mobo
    Replaced the old numerical VFD with the new Crystalfontz LCD (running off my main computer)
    Changed ALL casing screws on all components with Aluminum Thumb Screws
    (going to get adonized black thumb screws later)
    Put case logo sticker over ugly button holes on the front bezel
    put case logo on back of all components

    Today I've decided to stop by radioshack and replace the back of the amp. There are 4 Speaker terminals, RED and BLACK for two speakers - I've decided to change this to an RCA Female Connectors - and then doing the same with both my speakers. I will post pics tonight

    You're using RCA connectors for speaker cables? Are you aware of the current limitations of an RCA connection, especially in the very real context of speaker cables? If your speakers draw lots of current, you are asking for trouble.

    Sorry i meant PHONO cables, but even still, the speakers i am using draw very little current and are small home theater speakers, im not powering 500 watt speakers here..

    Ok LOT AND LOTS AND LOTS OF UPDATES!
    installed MOBO
    installed case fans
    installed Power supply
    installed Phono Jacks on back of AMP
    installed phono jacks on back of speakers
    cut up the back of the case
    and my LCD died :( but im getting a new one, YAY -
    i will be posting pics shortly sorry for the delay

    i had to cut down the heat sink, the orignal via northbridge heatsink rose above my low profile ram and would have gotten in the way of where my combo drive is going, so i removed the heatsink, and then trimed it down and put it back on :naughty:

    I love when people do this kind of stuff with the electronic peices. One day I will do that kind of mod... some day! :hehe:

    thanks man, yeah so far im happy with the way the projects going - im sad that the crystal fontz USB lcd got killed :waah: but a new one will be replacing it shortly.. and i wait

    Great work so far man. looks like it might turn out pretty sweet. What do you plan on using to control everything software wise when its done?

    planning on running windows 2k, and IRman to control powerdvd, and winamp

    package with DVD/RW Slimline drive and 20GB seagate 2.5 inch 5400 rpm HD and all adaptor cables, comes tomorrow - I just checked my tracking numbers for ups. then on June 14th i will recieve my Replacement LCD (crystalfontz 631 USB RED) and my IRman

    looks good, i have never seen a computer in a vcr, or something of the like, before, i always thought of it as a good idea
