THe PVR 250 and 350 regular work fine with linux. The MCE editions are what casue problems if you can find regular versions of them then your set. SOmetimes the 350 can cause some problems but teh 250 works fine right at the start.

    PICCYS ARE HERE

    First up:
Front panel with USB ports on the left, HDD screws in the middle and optical drive cutout on the right.

THis shows how the hdd is mounted with standoffs.

Top and sides with fans and optical drive mounted.

The optical drive is screwed into the right side and an angle piece on the left, which is then connected to the top via a bolt.

Bottom piece with mobo on left and psu on right.
Mobo is screwed on, PSU is screwed and glued. PSU backplate not mounted yet.
Also visible is the air duct which means that the two 80mm fans are only cooling the cpu.

PSU. Note large blob of glue holding down the...metal boxy thing....

PSU backplate. Thats a 92mm fan. I cut the hole with an 86mm holesaw.

And the beauty shot... The whole thing just leant together. Sexy and it hasnt been painted yet.

Since taking the photos I have also done half of the backplate too which is going well. I'm trying to make the rear look less like a computer and more like an A/V device.

    Hope you like :)

P.S Move to project logs please :)

    Update:
I bought another TV card. I will probably be using just one but it means I can have one in my main rig too, and the new one is better. It's an MSI TV@nywhere Master.
Most of the case has been painted black, and it looks great.
Backplate is nearly done, just need to decide on the final configuration of the PCI cards so I can make the holes for those.
I need to buy a new network card as I've fried two by accidentally knocking them out of the slot whilst running.
I also need a new 92mm fan as the PSU one is on its last legs, and even at 7v it is noisy and vibrates alot. I will most likely just get a generic one like my 80mms as I have had no problems with those and they are very quiet.
Software wise, I have gone with Win 2000 as it has good features of XP without using as many resources.
I am using showshifter for frontend. To anyone who thought my hardware wouldn't handle it, HA. Even on the 733 CPU, which I havent bothered to change for the 800 yet, it records live TV without hardly hiccuping. It even timeshifts perfectly. All this is also encoding with DivX.

    So whats left to do?
Well, I need to finish the rear panel, I may put in a nice looking grilled there as the one I am using was cut out of the PSU and is bent and fugly.
Front panel needs a power button, which I'm working on, but I'm not sure where on the front it should be? Any ideas?
Then basically the lid which comprises the top, rear and sides will be attached to the rear of the bottom panel by hinges so it can be opened. It will be secured by a cupboard latch on the front of the bottom panel.
Then it all needs spraying again, polishing etc.
I will have to work out a way to get programme guide info to it without internet access, since it probably won't be possible to get a network cable to the position I want it to be in. Perhaps it's time to invest in a wireless access point.
