    how about rendering ;)

it's gonna be used as a htcp and as a renderserver for 3dsmax (so no highend vga card needed)

I believe the make of the mouse is Sharkoon. It's originaly fitted with blue LEDs, yet I must say that the white light suits the mouse very well indeed.

Take it as a special token that I dedicate my very first post on these forums, to your project, Joungne, a truely astonishing project you have going here. :)

    Project HYPERCUBE² DAY 23

    03/10/2004 DAY 23

After A long time of radiosilence, I felt the need to give you guy's a small update. Because of a lack of time, I havent done so much in the last 3 weeks. But just to let you know I'm still working on it, I got some pictures toghether to make this update. I also found some nice stuff in the last 3 weeks and I'll tell you guys about it maybe this or the next update.

    So where to start?

I wanted some lights on the bottom of the cube
    [IMG]

There are 3 circuits of leds in the bottom. First there is a Luxeon (white) star in the middle. Then an array of 4 ultra bright white leds and also 9 ultraviolet leds around them. The last one will be used as HDleds so they wont be on all the time. The others are for giving a white glow from underneath the bottom.

Next thing on the list was the MOBO, I really didnt like the mosfet cooler that came with the mobo. It had to go and i put a silver one (from coolermasterà in place.

Here you can see the cooler stikking out (the gold-yellow one)

The chipset cooler from coolermaster with the brackets and coolpaste.

Some other small heatsinks from coolermaster for the little chips

    Removed the cooler

The heatsink in place and also added an other one on the graphics chip and some small ones on different places.
Notice that I started painting some of the purple and green tubes (I dont know the technical name for it) in silver. (bottom left) I'm gonna paint them all so the color sceme of the mobo will be all black and silver.

There are a few things I did, but didnt get pictures off. All the lights in the sides are done, the sleeving for the HD's to the mobo is completely done, and made some little feet for the cube out of 3.5mm jacks. If you look very carefully in the next pictures you will see all these little changes and even a few more ;)

Now this is where I need you guys. The next pictures are almost the same as the previous (they are in the dark but thats not the point) I removed the white plexi on the front so you can see through also from the front side. I cant decide which is better. Guess you can help me to decide.

Well thats it for the small update. I dont want to loose all my fans ;-)
Maybe I'm gonna take some pictures of the other stuff which i'm gonna use. Those will be for the next update very shortely.

    Greetz,

The pics are not edited (just resized in PS) I think it has something to do with the white balance on the camera, and as I think of it the UV filter is still on it from the holiday. I guess thats why the UV lights dont show like they are...

First off great mod but...I have to say the violot clashes maybe adding some violot in other places that would look good.Just a thought.

for everyone saying the purple lighting looks bad that is because digital cameras pick up UV lighting as purple where as a normal non-digital camera does not
i would assume that it looks very very nice in person :thumb:

Wow, this is the best case in progress I have ever seen. Though I do agree with others, that the purple/uv leds look out of place in that picture.
Joungne, I honor your skills, and keep up the great work.

(Btw - the end of this movie (Hypercube) was so twisted, wasn't it?!)

Ultraviolet looks out of place IMO... As for the plexi thing, its a somewhat mixed bag. Being able to see in is often a fun thing to do... But theres not much to see here. It could honestly go either way for me.
