LIAN LI Dual Rad Fan Grill.

Yep you know the process, so I'll keep it short n sweet...

Design, cut and filed the edges.

Nibbled out the 'Lian Li' name...

    Logo...

    Completed cut out.

Took sticky stuff off and cleaned it up for sand polishing.

400 Grit, wet and dry sand.

600 Grit, wet and dry sand.

800 Grit wet and dry sand.

1500 Grit, wet and dry sand.

2000 Grit, wet and dry sand.

Now onto the polishing, it actually fairly easy, because the sand-polishing has done most of the work for me, so rested up and today started polishing both the lian li and gammods fan grills...

While I'm waiting for some acrylic to arrive from GAMmods, I bought myself some sheets of aluminium, these 2 sheets will be attached to the corners of the front of the case and I have been looking at some original space invaders artwork and pondering on what to do.

I had an idea for recreating the original front arcade screen on the right side panel, here's a pic of the original artwork.

And this one on the door side...

But I'm still throwing ideas about so nothing is final, I really want the outside of the case to pop.

And this is an idea for the power button and reset switch and possible fan bus switch/bus plate, and if it is possible then I'll be redoing the top panel to accommodate for it.

I found this on my travels on the web, and it would make a great switch plate, though the holes would need to be altered somewhat, but the backing design of a spaceship cockpit looks great.

So that's what I've been up to for the past few days and will be throwing many ideas about till something jumps out at me.

    More updates to follow soon

Just thought I'd let all those that are viewing this, that i have been waiting for an acrylic shipment to arrive, which it has, so I hope to have something in the next week or so, just working out some designs and so forth.

@ mnpctech, yes I do , but it may not be identical to the pic I posted, just certain elements of it as some of the smaller details look way too small to manipulate onto acrylic.

Has been a long time since I've posted anything, I'm pretty much broke and also have another project on the way and am waiting ever so patiently for some money to come in and when it does I'll be continuing with this project, so I keep my fingers crossed till then.

    A well overdue update.

First of all, Slamaa has left the project, there's no hardware going into this project because I cant get in touch with anyone, but other than that, its all peachy keen.

So newho, I decided to redo the top panel completely.
This is to be the new spot for the power, reset and MNPCTech Handles.

The handles were meant to go on the door, but these handles are identical to the old ammo box handles with the spring loading in it, so its meant to spring when ur lifting 30kgs, and the Alu door isn't 30 Kg's , be lucky if its 1 kg, so its a very light weight door, so the handles wouldn't be very useful there, so I decided to put them up the top , where they would be more useful, EG: Lifting the case and moving it around.

Also began work on the Power / Reset switch plate, modeled it as close as possible to the real Space Invaders switch plate as I could, bare in mind I don't have access to a laser cutter so I had to improvise on the design to better suit my skills.

Nothing says Uber skills like a CD to draw circles with :)

My version of the design .

    The proper version.

I want to give this switch plate a bit of depth over the original one so I cut some sections out...

UV Yellow Acrylic behind the plate and a Imitation Bulgin Dot Switch (RED) purchased from GAMMODS.

And this is my idea for the overall top plate.

    Any thoughts?

This project isn't my primary concern anymore, due to all thats occured its pretty disheartening to watch it all fall a part, and I apologise for that, my progress wont be as frequant as before but I'll be updating this again soon.

Cheers, thnx for the support and the comments.

Shame slamaa isn't a part of this anymore. Switch panel design looks really good, as always lol.

I wasn't really happy with my attempt at the switch plate so I scrapped that idea and went with an alternate option and I feel it looks the part much more.

Need a design.... oh yeah here it is...

I cant free hand draw at all, so as I do, I put the paper onto my LCD screen and traced it ever so carefully, that's why it looks a tad messy.

Its in pencil....need to bring it to life I think.

Inked it, now you can all see :)

Looks ok but something is still missing...

perhaps some UV Yellow acrylic generously donated by GAMMODS, cheers GAM :)

Something still not right...maybe needs me to attack it with the dremel. I'll give that a go.

Looks promising, keep attacking it with dremel, see what eventuates from it.

Not too shabby, but needs some body now...

Looking more alive now with some body to it, still needs some attention.

Cut it out, give it some shape.

    Bit more improvement...

sand and flame polish the edges and clean it up a bit, (color change due to lack of lighting)

Almost finished product, still need to add holes for reset and power switches and also a cut of switch for the overall lighting, incase whom ever owns it , doesn't want 100 red leds pulsating at them.

Well that's all for now, back with more soon.

Ty for watching and I appreciate your support

This mod is looking great. Are you going to add a piece of clear plexi over the one you engraved? Otherwise I think you should have engraved from behind, so the front would be smooth.
