So this is my second case mod now, the first I will be doing a project log about. I would love any suggestions/comments along the way. I will mostly be posting bigger updates on weekends as that's when I will be working on this thing the most. Without further adieu lets start this thing To do list: Disassemble console - done Disassemble controller - done Disassemble hard drive Cut side window Cut window in hard drive Fill memory card slots in faceplate Sand everything Prime everything Paint console and hard drive Paint controller Glue in plexiglass Reassemble Happy Times So this is a little sketch I made up as for the design of the case. I'm still not 100% sure about the color in the middle (right now purple) so if you have any suggestions plz post. Controller will be painted all black (murdered out) How the console looks at the moment, gotta love that custom Modern Warfare faceplate That's right, powered by Asus......wutsup Controller at the moment Mmmmmm very delicious dirt right there Alright time to disassemble the controller Gotta take out those seven torx screws in the back Didn't have a security bit torx screwdriver bit I managed to get a flathead to fit in and it worked Screws out Taking off the back of the shell Some more dirt/dust that looks very tasty Got the bottom plate out, just pulls out Finally, managed to fiddle the circuit board out, not as easy as it seams Took out those rubber things holding in the buttons and the buttons just pop outs Now I gotta take out the d pad Gotta unscrew these two screws to get it out Popped it out Now I took out the RB LB buttons And pried out the sync button Empty shell Now to take out the triggers Careful so the spring doesn't pop out Wasn't so lucky with the second one It kinda flew out across my room, luckily I found it lying by my radiator All the parts laid out So I don't forget what to do with all that crap Now on to the console Faceplate off, just pull it Had to take these feet things out to reach the clips..... To take out the top and bottom plates Time to press these clips in, kinda a pain This magical screwdriver was the perfect size and got the job done pretty well Console splitting in two Now gotta unclip the clips in the front Bottom's off Man that things dusty Taking off the eject button Now these torx screws gotta come out EZ mode Top coming off Taking off the dvd drive cover thing Dusty heatsink Now to take off that metal plate on one of the insides of the case so I can cut the window That's where you belong Fan duct (I think that's what it's called) coming out All the parts laid out Temporary console so I can still play, add me GT: Prelich So that's all for dis assembly right now. I'm going to start marking and cutting the window hole tomorrow and I will also take apart the hard drive to get ready to cut. Stay tuned for another update coming soon.
