    Update time from Dr. Slow

Hi everybody! I know it has been a while since I've update and I'm sorry for that. I've been off snowboarding and I've gotten a new job at IMTLabs (www.spleak.com) so I've had a lot of stuff to do, hence the lack of updates.

Well I'm going to make that up to you now.

    On to the update :D

    Markup for the reservoir cut

Cutting the hole with my trusty Dremel :dremel:
    (Patience my young padowan, patience)

    Closeup of the reservoir cut
    [IMG]

    Top view with screws testmounted
    [IMG]

I've also had to drill a hole in the back of the case to be able to access the radiator bleed screw
    [IMG]

ok, that's it. Update again in a short while :D

    thx for reading

I was just about to ask the same thing, but I also noticed that there's at least 3 inlets/outlets fitted to the res. keisari, are you planning to use both inlets on the pump? That's an interesting idea, if using the top inlet is good, maybe using both will be better?

Ohoi! Time for an update in this ever so slow moving project :)

I wish I could work faster but for some reason it doesn't happen

Anywho I finished the spacer that will go underneath the 2 DualStars
Since it's so narrow it'll need to be screwed to the chassis
    [IMG]

After painting it with 2 layers of Chaos Black
    [IMG]

After applying the carbon fiber vinyl. It's squeezed between what I could find in the workshop to maintain its shape untill it drys (a piece of wood and an old harddrive cage) :D
    [IMG]

I also drilled some holes for the DualStar to be mounted through (if you look closely you can see the other DualStar mounted right above it)

I drilled the holes for the case wheels bigger to accomodate some silencing grommets. It should take care of at least some vibrations into my hardwood floor (sorry for the blur)

    Holes drilled and grommets inserted
    [IMG]

Here you can see the space thats created by the grommets between the wheels and the case
    [IMG]

    wheels
    [IMG]

    more wheels :)

to make sure the wheels stay put I've glued the screws with 2 part epoxy
    [IMG]

Finally I made some mounting discs (with silencing grommets of course) to mount my radiator to the grill
    [IMG]

Cut a wedge into the case in the middle to mount the radiator grill "invisibly"

And last but not least applied some carbon fiber vinyl to the grill (all that's left is to cut out all the little holes with an exacto knife, which is going to take forever :worried: )

Untill nxt time, feel free to post comments and whatnot (I might not survive cutting 100+ holes in the grill :dremel: )
    thx for reading :D

Thx for the nice comment Starbuck3733T :D

Well phuzz, I had an idea that it would be a good thing to use both inlets but after some testing and reading up on some articles (www.h2okoeling.dk) I found that the flow actually drops when using both inlets compared to using only the top one (Front: 357,6 Both: 507,4 Top only: 559,0) so I guess I'll be using the top one only after all. :D

    Update time!

This is only going to be a small update since I'm missing some parts and my camera just ran out of batteries :sigh:

    Finished the bottom spacer
    [IMG]

Partly finished with cutting the holes
    [IMG]

And finally I finished cutting all the holes in the grill and reaplying some black where the knife had scraped it off. While I cut the grill I figured I might as well count the holes and I ended up at a whopping 384 holes, yikes! But dang I think it looks good so I'm very pleased even though it was a lot of work (probably 10+ hours) :D
    [IMG]

Thats it for now but I'll post some more in the end of the week.

    Thx for reading :D

Aight! Finally time for an update.

As I've mentioned before I'm sorry for the lack of updates lately but I've got so much work on my hands at the moment (The company I work for is upgrading their systems to ASP.Net 2.0 and I've gotta catch up on all that stuff) .

Anywho. Sillynes aside and on to the update.

I've drilled bigger holes for the fan grills on the rear of the case so it would accomodate my nice hex screws and fit with the overall style of the case
    [IMG]

I also shortened the screws with my trusty Dremel so they wouldn't protrude to much into the case
    [IMG]

Next up I mounted the Innovatek reservoir and my custom made fan grill into the case
    [IMG]

And a closeup (looking pretty imho)

I then made som discs with some damping foam on both sides to hold the middle of the radiator grill in place invisibly (not the prettiest but it won't show anyways)

Monuted the discs into the case (sorry for the blur)

    The other side
    [IMG]

I then put rubber gromets on top of the screws that's holding the grill in place. The idea with these gromets is that the radiator will be mounted real tight up against them and the foam discs in the middle to prevent any form of vibration throughout the case.

Likewise on in the other end (also added Noiseblocker EVO damping mats around the reservoir and damn they're hard to work with)

The radiator will be mounted with 4 finger screws, the custom discs I made a while ago and with locking anchors with a self locking nut at the end.

Sorry for the crummy picture but here you can see the radiator mounted with the above mentioned screws. I originally planned using 6 finger screws but 4 turned out to be plenty)

Another picture of the radiator mounted (after I attach the fans you won't see the golden locking anchors anyways so I didn't bother painting them)

Topview of the case after the radiator has been installed
    [IMG]

Here's a pic of the reservoir mounted
    [IMG]

After this was done I figured I'd silence the bottom of the case as well
    [IMG]

    And sleeve the wires
    [IMG]

I also silenced the bottom spacer
    [IMG]

The screws to mount the DualStars (I had to get some longer ones instead of the originals because I'm going to mount them with both a normal disc on the outside and a springlocking disc on the inside to make sure that they screw in tight and that nothing will vibrate once I power up)

The first DualStar mounted along with the bottom spacer
    [IMG]

Both DualStars mounted with the above mentioned dubble disc system
    [IMG]

    Rear shot of the DualStars
    [IMG]

And last but not least the money shot

Bling! Bling! notice the shine :D
    [IMG]

That's it for this update and I hope it satisfied some of your needs :D
I'll see if I can get some more done next weekend and post some more then.
    And thx for reading!

Untill then have fun with yet another fine 80's toon

    About time too.

    Looking great!!!!!

Nice to see some original solutions to problems.

I am using a 1/2 inch inlet in my pump for the same reason. The rest of the system is 3/8 but from the res to the pump its 1/2 inch.

    Looking forward to next update.

    Regards
    BenJ

    Ohoi!

Time for a small update yet again. :D

    I sleeved the pump.

Because I'm using Tygon R3603 as tubing in the system I need to drill out all my fittings to 11mm to accomodtate this thicker type of tube. I bought a huge drill which i ended up not using because it trashed the fitting.

Instead I found this strange bit and it turned out to work like a dream
    [IMG]

After drilling the fittings I started mounting the pump and tubing.

I may have run into a bit of a problem because I don't know if my VFD will fit in the planned slot in front of the res because of the tubing that I didn't really take into account when planning this thing, but I guess we'll see about that :worried:

And from the rear (not sure if the tubing should run like this though)

That's it for now but hopefully I can get some more work done soon.
    Thx for reading :D

    Heh, Forum lurker here..
    This mod looks great tbh..

Hil Kejseren!! /danish

How big can the inlet be made on that pump anyhow??
And would it not be better to use some smooth angled bends for connections between the rad and pump?? Even tho im not sure that they're made in other materials than copper.. Keep up the good work...

    thx for the nice comments.

    thansen it is! :D

it's always better not to use bends whenever possible because they restrict the flow (even though it's not by much). dunno how big it can be made and still be effective but mine runs pretty smooth. haven't tried it at full load yet though
