Hello everyone, this is my second case mod and my first project log. I don't have much done yet as I'm still working out some plans for the case, but your input will be appreciated. If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions on anything, please let me know! So far the only thing I have done is the pump mount. I decided to take out the second HDD tray (I won't use it anyhow) so I could have a little more room. The pump is mounted on a piece of acrylic which is mounted to the case by four bolts with grommets. I'll let the pictures do the rest of the talking.
That rubber thing underneath the pump gave me an idea. If you wanted one of those cheap you could also use skateboard risers, they are quite jelly and designed to be absorbant to shock / vibration
Blast! My idea is stolen! Oh well, in the years it'd have taken me to get a water cooling rig going it wouldn't been discovered anyway.
hey nice pump base thingy. are you gonna drill holes and mount the pump? right now it looks like its resting on top. I looked at your specs and realized I'm running most of the same parts
I've been doing some work (not much, but I've been trying ), so I'll post my progress. I have all of my watercooling stuff, so I decided I would show you guys a Talysurf screen shot of the MAZE4 CPU Block. I'm sure that not everyone here is going to know what any of this means, but I'll be more than happy to explain any questions. I started working on the sidepanel. It seems to be taking forever for me to cut, but I will post pictures when its done. I decided that the rest of the sidepanel will be a large square window (to show off the goods ) I also did some work with the wires that come with the case (LED's, power and reset buttons, speaker, and USB). Please post any comments, questions, or suggestions!
Nice!!!! Excellent job on the wiring harness! What did you use as the interface block between the 2 sides? Is that an ATX Molex?
Yeh, you have got to explain that graph thing. Gotta love the attention to detail when you're vinyl dying the molded USB port thing.
Hello, I am very curious: How do you get sponsors? I cannot afford to get new hardware for my new project, and I think a sponsor may help me.
probably because i have the version where the motherboard tray doesn't come out and has little changes ( but is cheaper)
Thanks everyone! I should have another small update soon. Well what do you wan't to know? The graph shows the surface structure (or surface finish) of the waterblock. On DangerDen's site it says that they machine and lap their blocks to 600 grit. I figured since I have access to the equipment, I might as well see how nice the finish really is. It turns out that DangerDen actually has a very nice finish. It turns out that the Ra (Roughness Average) = 4.72µin (millionths of an inch), which is really good (the ball bearing that is used for testing is 2.5µin (it looks like a round mirror). The talysurf gets the Ra by calculating the average height of the entire surface. The talysurf used is a Taylor Hobson Form Talysurf. If you wan't any more info, just ask! I will be lapping the block to 2000 grit, so I will check its Ra again to see how much of a difference (if any) it makes. Sorry for the lack of updates. I have changed a few things and I'm still trying to decide on a few other things. I'm really starting to run out of cash for this project, but hopefully I can stay under my set budget (so far so good ). I have some work done. The water blocks, pump, and PSU are finished. I'll get some more pictures tomorrow, but this is what I have now. I also did the same mod to the MAZE4 NB block. Thanks to coolmiester of Coolercases UK for the inspiration of the blocks. The pump is now painted black, I'll get a picture of it tomorrow. The pump isn't on a relay (I don't need it to be), I just made it so I can still take out the MB tray and so that I don't have a cable hanging out of my computer. Please post any comments, questions, or suggestions!
