simon_C: i am planning the same thing, except i plan on drilling and tapping my own rails, as it will cost less and they can be whatever length i want, and if i create a monster that isnt to U specs, i can drill accordingly
ah true. but for me to buy the tap kit and the right size bit (im notorious for snapping or losing bits) itll end up costing me way more than getting a few predrilled rails from a music equipment dealer. what to do with my modded pc case though..... once i go rackmount that is... make some brackets to mount it in the rack? hrmmm.... anyway no more threadjacking for me, what are we looking at for colors maybe? i see everything flat done in a deep metallic orange and all the rails and frame done in a graphite color......
I'm black color fan. So, mostly will be black with some touches of others colors. Maybe silver from the diamond plate, once sanded.
Mmmm.... Maybe. The front door will be in dark plexy so, black is ok to me. But more colors... we will see when done...
rackmount yeah. why not going for black with some soft golden or silver accents, and each computer/compartiment themed in another color? i am not sure if your dimensions allow it, but i think it would be nice to include a drawer of some kind to store cd/dvd/games/spare cables/phone chargers... edit: saw only now this tread is a few years old/dead...
First of all, thanks for your reply. The project is not dead, but i moved to another house, and I have little time and space for modding now. It's awaiting better conditions. But I'll finish it, I promise. Black and silver would be nice. Maybe with a smoked plexy door. Drawer is a nice idea, but depend of the remain available space. I hate to have a lot of chargers lying everywhere, so I'll think about it.
