Congrats on the Motm nomination, well deserved :). Haven't been on the Bit-tech forums for a while and thought I'd have a little gander at your project and my God does the lighting look fantastic.

    The copper block...

I ordered a piece of 300x155x15,5, this was going to be 6kg.
When I wanted to lift it quickly I had some problems...
Appeared my 'foreign friend' sent a brick of 300x200x20.

Price for a piece of copper with these measures in Holland is around €360
Got it for €185 now :)

    Think it'll fit.

Sending it to Quepee tomorrow, he loves copper :)

Today Quepee also engraved the backplate.
He told me he had a plan for the "Inspired by EKWB" text.
    Go ahead I said..

Full of pride he showed the first picture....
    I got a stroke :O
    INSIRED by EKWB!

Appeared he was having fun with me :D :p

    Again thanks a lot Quepee!!

    Thanks m8!

    I ordered it here. http://www.graveco.nl/
It's a Dutch guy who already did custom pcb's and stuff.
Now he also does laser-cutting and engraving acrylic and other stuff.
I just had to deliver him a Google sketchup design and he converts it.
    Real cool guy!

Really want to thank all of you guys! Bit-Tech, MNPC-Tech, the voters, readers and all the people supporting this forum and our builds in the MOTM!

To give you guys something back .. ;)

    Backplate changed a bit.

And today Quepee started with the front side of the copper.

Took it back home carefully to match it with the POM part :p

Well .. we're in love with the block :)

    Probably next week the backside.

    Oh .. out of curiosity .. :)

    Poll: Just Copper or Nickelplated?
    Keep it as it is.
    Nickel plate it!

Leave that beaty as it is! Keep your filthy hands off, and let it's beauty unfold in all it's copper glory! :thumb:
But looking at the design, that thing is going to strech the pump to it's limit! My guess is that the pressure drop is going to be worse than the CPU block I made for my gf's pc! :)

I love it, but I'm just saying! :)

    Thanks for the advise Angel!
Well if it will give any problems I think I can still adjust that in the POM part.
It doesn't have to be a real performance thing but do like silence.

By the way you should edit your signature m8 ;)

Almost forgot, the copper block went from 10.6kg to 6.4kg now.
After the backside milling it will 'only' weight around 1.8kg :)

It's awesome, big & heavy :D I ticked copper because it's a very nice solid 1 piece precision cut so should be perfect as it is, looks very nice & clean too.

Regarding the potential pressure drop problem Angel mentioned & you mentioning the back side of it needs doing still, why not use the same session to mill half way down every other wavy line to enable better flow & keep good performance. :)

edit: I think it's the biggest slab of copper I've seen used in a project log. :D

Oh man if you only knew how bad I want to finish this and fire it up :D
Just going slow since I'm busy with many things lately and the milling isn't in my hands.

:thumb::thumb: no reply, just thanks I guess :thumb::thumb:

    Still so in doubt :duh:
I really love copper, but I think nickel wil just look better in this build cause of the black sparkle fittings. I'll think it over this weekend :)

Hmm I'll ask if it's still possible to do something about the waves ... This will probably my first and last custom gpu block so better try to make it perfect :)

    Thanks guys! :thumb:

Colour schemes & being very dedicated to them, I agree it's a tough one especially on an expensive & nice unique piece like this, nickel would look better if done nicely for the colour scheme & if it doesn't affect the precision of it then nickel plated will be good, but I don't know much about plating really to be sure but I'm sure some other users here will.
