Just fyi, the very best way to do a hand brushed finish is to use scotch-brite (or similar) abrasive pads. They can be ordered from mcmaster.com

Tru I use 1200grit to clean and smooth the panel 1st and then used i think it was 80grit and sanded in one direction and got that look and gaive it a little go over with 600grit to smooth it. I think if i but a couple coats of gloss of it it would be sweet. Going to have a look at the site now.

    Thanks.

Just trying to work out a way that i can get to the 5.25" bay screws without having to remove the drive cover panel if i ever have to install or remove sumthing.

1 Idea i had was to have a hole inline with the drive screw holes and just put a nice black rubber grommet in the holes on the drive cover to hole in the holes when the 5.25" device is in.

    Round grommets
    [IMG]
    Oval grommets
    [IMG]

Anyone got any ideas? Sumone mite no a better way. :) Just to let you no i dont have and tools to make threads. :(

EDIT: just found these things in my bits box. Think thay are for using on fans or sumthing so you dont have to use screws. all you do is put it in a hole and then press in the little knob and it locks / holds in it place.

Could do sumthing like this. looks a lot cleaner i think.

Just remember the cardboard will be alloy lol.

Yeh i like the oval ones better. Still thinking of ways to do it.

Anyways i have a update on the case. I hardened up and went out into the freezing shed and did sum modding today. Bloody weather.

1st was to make the front led holes bigger for the new bezel leds.

    Test fit.

The stock cable hole i made a little big and make it nicer.

    Test fit the panel
    [IMG]

Started on the top fan hole all drawn out and holes drilled for fan and grill.

All cut. The outside holes are for grill Grill is not square.

    Test fit fan.

    Case so far.

Going to be using a A.C.Ryan 120mm grill on the top and have mesh under the grill. Rear fan will have same mesh on it.

Also got email from Proformace-pcs and thay have got the left side in black and in stock. Going to get 1 and sum T sata and T molex plugs.

    Thanks skullen.

Havent done a lot on joject lately. been thinking about it and what to do on it. Sat down and thinked. :)

I did drill a hole for the rear fan wires to go into the bottom part of the case to hide them. hole is 2mm bigger then grommet as the grommet will go into the new panel that will go ontop of the stock devider panel.

Also i marked out the new holes and drilled them for the HDD rack. spinned it round. test fit.

Also good news i should have my other new black side panel in next couple days. :)

Working on a front panel to go in the 5.25" bays at moment. 1 big panel with everything in it. like fan controller temp displays and that.

For the front look at doing sumthing like this. Just a Photoshop photo.

Not to sure about card reader. I have one in my pc at moment at only use CF cards in it. now and then. Plus i wouldnt want to have the USB cable going to the mobo as its a xtra cable to try and hide. Seen sumone take the usb cable out the back of the pc and into the rear USB ports.

I agree. If you wouldn't have said it was Photoshop I would have probably not even noticed! But it looks good - Can't wait to see it finished!

Thanks twentynine, the 2 leds and key lock is a bit off. :)

Just been working on the front and working out a way to do it. I was having a clean up of pc parts to sell and I seen the lian li 5.25 to 3.5 converter bay thing. So i was like can i use it. Yep sure can.

Here is my idea on how to do the front 3 x 5.25 panel. Using 2 5.25 bay converters. I have a silver 1 so would have to get another 1. (Not hard to get)

Have 1 in the bottom bay and 1 2 bays up. and bolt a 1mm to 1.5mm alloy panel on the front.

Would cut the 3.5 hole out bigger to make room for the new parts. And leave the middle 1 empty to put the fan controller in.

Use chrome nuts on the front. to bolt the front panel to the 2 x 5.25 bay converters. Also removed card reader as i dont really need it for only 1 type of card. just will have to use ubs to take photos off camera.

    What you think? :naughty:
