Even if it's not that efficient, it sure looks impressive!

Hey Bentleya, I'll try to get some pics as soon as possible.

I also have a few photos of a waterblock I could throw in :hehe:

    New diffusers...

Hey all, do you still remember this thing?

First off, apologies goes out to Bentleya. I was supposed to post photos of my light setup, but I never got around doing it. So, I'm truly sorry about that.

Okay, this was supposed to be a project, but the damn thing hasn't evolved a bit...until now. I recently had the time to refine my initial design, so here goes.

So the biggest problem were the light diffusing panels, which were opaque, but not nearly enough. They reduced light approximately 2-3 stops, which is not acceptable...not at least with my primitive lighting setup :hehe:

The old diffusers were 3mm opaque acrylic, hmm...not good at all. So I found a fabric, which is thicker than the fabric used in a shoot-trough umbrella, but the feel to it is about the same. So is the color and this stuff let's light trough pretty nicely.

Unfortunately I can't sew worth a crap, so I had to bribe my mom to do it :hehe:

So on top of basic sewing to keep the fabric from falling apart, there are these tunnels which are closed from the other end on both ends of the diffuser. This will make sense in a sec...

The tunnels are for these aluminum rods which are cut to lenght and then pushed in the tunnels.

Then the whole thing is slid in the vertical aluminum profiles. After putting the profiles in place, I can tighten the diffuser and lock the profiles in place with the hex screw system...

    ...which looks like this.

Here's a few photos, which are pretty self explanatory, but they should make you see the system and how it works.

So, after a bit of assembly, we stand here. Some things are missing, for example the top acrylic, but this was easier to photograph :D

And finally a view from inside the box. The diffuser has a few creases, but I believe that they won't matter when diffusing light is their only purpose. Though, I think I could iron them out if it becomes an issue.

I'm doing a bit of a product photo shoot tomorrow, so hopefully the photos come out great and also I remember to take photos of the setup also.

    Darkened signing off for tonight...
