Cool. I've probably asked a dozen times but, do you draw your own filigree work? Trace? I find that stuff difficult to do because it always looks... not.. official. (I dunno, it just doesn't feel like it's done right when if draw it.)

@Nutman- I think the little EEL is only interested in chewing on computer parts at this point.

Those acrylics look beautifully, such attention to very sweet details.
I would recommend paint or change those screws :thumb:

Hehe. I hope she's old enough to realize WHAT her daddy is building for her. This is amazing.

    Thank you!

    Thanks, man!

    Thanks, man!

    Thank you, man!

Of course I draw everything myself! My wife is actually really good at that more "organic" type of scrollwork (she's a painter and tends to delve more into that aspect of things), but this confessedly-amateurish (to me anyway) looking type is more for just little stylistic accoutrements to the acrylic than an absolute design style/direction, if that made any sense at all. It's more to just add some interest to otherwise-plain acrylic to her. She's 11 y/o, so girls tend to like "pretty" things at that age instead of bad boys and motorcycles. :hehe:

The little EEL, however, just wants to run about and trash things at this point!

Thanks, man! Nope; as with all my logs, when I do something it's for a reason not readily present yet. ;) I recommend they stay how they are... there are other things in the build that will be the same color which ties everything together. :) I'm always 20 steps ahead. :thumb:

She's still young enough to feel that if it doesn't have the face of whoever-is-famous-this-week on it, she probably thinks it sucks. :hehe:

    Thanks, man!

Maybe not. I remember having a pretty strong sense of aesthetics even at that age. I remember getting some Star Wars bedsheets and thinking they were pretty crappily printed. There was a LOT of popular stuff in the '70s I thought was foul.

    Log Update - 12/11

    Update time!

Man....this is just ridiculous. There is no excuse for this. Why the hell is this bloody log still running?! I apologize, everyone. I am Jack's total shame.

Alright....alright.... I need to get this damn thing done and I mean SOON.

On to the update proper. Or improper.

Last we left off, I needed to....jeez, I can't even recall what was happening last we left off. Nevermind. I'm an idiot.

Anyways, I didn't like the stock cooling for the chipset, etc. so I figured I'd rip it off and fix it. I had some old Zalman coolers laying around so I retrofitted them for use with this board. Modded some spare Thermalright bracket gear or something, I think that's what it was; who knows, ya know?

    Closeup of the northbridge...

    And closeup of south...

Should be a lot cooler now. And it even matches the color-scheme a bit!

On to other things, I was finally able to get to taking care of those shiny comp fittings...

Now they match what I'm going for. Raspberry compies!

And installed on the block for a quick looksie...

All that modder's mesh I hacked up also was finished up...

As well as a spare 80mm wire grill. Oldie but goldie! Er, raspberry actually...

The smaller piece of mesh will go right here.

Let's get that installed on the mobo tray, shall we?

Personally, when I use plain ole fan-screws, I really prefer the beefy dome-headed ones that LiLi offers. They're hefty and nice looking. Granted, they're just bloody screws. But still.

There we go. About what I was wanting!

Now, on the inside I need to slap on that wire grill that's raspberried up to keep fingers from, well, stopping this slow-ass fan from spinning. :hehe: Not like it's a 6A fan or anything!

And again with the LiLi screws.

    All done. Works great.

Also finished up on the PCI slot covers too...

Dropped them in with LiLi blue thumbscrews as well to continue the color-scheme a bit.

And finally the grill from the modded PSU from my favorite PSU company!

I'll be back soon, hopefully, although that's probably an empty promise at this point, right? :hehe:

In all serious, it's business-time! And I'll get it done soon!

    Toodles.

Will this mod turn into a Christmas present?

I think your daughter will love it.

    Log Update - 12/22

Update! Not much of one, but then again I haven't had much time to do anything else aside from baking and designing things for gifts, etc. and work has been on top of me with the sheer mountain of mods so I have no desire to touch any kind of modding outside of work. :hehe:

    Let's get to it.

Need to start assembling the front panel so this thing can start representing a computer somewhat.

The coated and modded front, nice and nekked...

Lay down the 1st layer of new acrylic...

And the 2nd and final layer...

For ease of use and nice looks I always use socket-caps or buttonheads; force of habit at this point I suppose. :hehe:

Quick lil' look at how things sit...

Finally mounted some of that coated modder's mesh inside the fan intake port to complete the look....

Started dropping in the switches, including the purple power switch...

And began assembly of the rad/fan combo down below.

I also needed to get these fan controller rheostat wires sleeved although you won't see them, but that's no excuse, right?

    ...aaaand done.

I have a ton of work ahead of me still, but it'll progress at a federal government's pace; meaning it won't get anywhere anytime soon. :hehe: I really did want to get this done for X-Mas, but no big deal. She'll get all kinds of chintzy mass-manufactured crap from the grandma, etc. :hehe: She won't miss a lowly custom computer that's probably about the same age as her.

Alright, in all seriousness, please...everyone be safe and cherish time with friends and loved ones during the holidays regardless of religious, ethnic, sexual or mental affiliation!

:brrr: <--- Jack Frost nipping at your nose... (does that actually mean frostbite? If so, that's not something to sing about unless your a sadist!)

    Happy Holidays everyone! Toodles!
