04.Update: Iron Painting pics of the very light work of the week before something more consistent that I'll will do during this weekend two coats of iron paint. interior was a little shining and did not looks coll so flashy orange painting that will be visible only throught the small holles so it's not going to make a heavy effect iron paint on the back power part, I still don't know how to manage the transition effect with the circuit breaker minimum to be made envisaged this weekend: to use a old female power plug with protection door to insert the ps2/vga/tv-out plug (I've found two so it's gonna be both ps2 on one and vga + tv-out on the other)
05.Update : Dvd faceplate original faceplace bondo sandpapering black plastic paint titanium gray paint and iron paint
06.update : Ps2 plugs the original plug cutting to place the male plugs of the extension ps2 cables bondo to attach it resin to make it flat.. plugs are not aligned fixing, bondo and iron paint
07.update : Dvd support preliminary sketch 5'1/4 emplacements that I had at the bottom of the case galvanometer protection fixing test with a classic dvd drive, I will place the slot-in one once the window is done
Sorry mate, but I must admit that your first version of this mod was more effective... You're making a goo job, but it's not so original like before. Anyway, this is just my opinion... Keep on modding
I agree, this version is less original as there is a "rust spring" on bit-tech But the chrome version wasn't satisfying me. I saw the same chrome bin in a smaller version, so maybe I could do a mini-burningchrome with a minimalist look for my old stripped laptop when I run out of other mods ideas...
08.update : DVD part 1 tutorials used: Cdrom window: http://www.casemodgod.com/cd-rom_window.htm Relocating Activity LED and Eject switch on a DVD: http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=23443 window cutting cd cover used to make the window this is on the top because it's safer and it will not be seen on the top part of the dvd, there was a little on the part of the dvd that I cutted, there was a small notch which was useful to maintain a moving part of the drive, I make a hole and stuck a screw to replace this notch and it works ! (the truth is that I havn't paid attention to this and that I repaired the damage: without this blocking little part, the drive is very noisy and is almost non-functionnal) relocating switch and led on the audio plug that I routed with my dremel to be sure there was no short-circuit two connectors and soldering the switch. test : it works very good ! thx zapwizard a little painting and positionning the sticker. of course ageing and rust are missing
I didn't put the real one, this just a cover and background of another ampmeter, the real ampmeter will show the current and the power used by the power-supply it was the dvd drive open up with its new eject button (this button can light up and is connected to the activity led of the dvd)
Thanks ! the amp/wattmeter I presume ? there is no circuit, I just inserted an ampmeter (I used a 2A then a 1A) in an extension power cable like explained in this post : http://forums.bit-tech.net/showpost.php?p=561650&postcount=21
