This is the victim: A 1987 computer a friend found laying in the trash infront of his house Since I didn't charge him for labor on his PC he decided to give the computer to me, which I gladly accepted (my mom did not). A computer I baught from a friend needs a case, so I thought, this is a good case, if it gets some touchups I heard about something called vinyl dye and I thought that I could use it Today I painted the case dark blue Original Color: Back Of Mac Before: Back Of Mac After: Assembled:
What are you putting in the case? It looks like you put the original hardware back in it, but in your post you say you have a comp that needed a case. If you plan to put a PC board in there you're going to have to bust out the dremel on the back. In which case you may have wanted to do that before painting. But of course hindsight is always 20/20.... In any case, it looks neat, it will be interesting to see what else you decide to do with it.
That's because I added the images today. Before I had images of the apple (the first pic) and then some moron deleted them (by editing my post).
Yeh, I'm gonna have to dremell it. I'm gonna get my computer back soon, so I'm gonna see what needs to be modded. i liked the case because it has good ventilation (on both sides there are holes for the hold air to enter in.
Sorry for the pics being down. I'm on spring breat right now and just took apart both computer. I'm gonna be going to my uncle's house today to mod
OK! I've got tme motherboard, PSU, PCI/AGP cards secure! Today I almost got the CPU fan secure. After this i'm gonna steal my DVD drive, put the buttons in the back under military style switches. BTW: I found sume switches at a surplus All Electronics store that are great! If you push them to one side they are mementary, and to another they are just on
Hehe. I was planning to do some iMAC>iPC, but i found out that the new iMAC case is imposible to buy without buying the whole thing (im unemployd now). so I scrapped the project... gonna get some acrylic and mod this SOAB-case i have now... BTW... if you need picture webspace, give me a mail, and ill see what i can do!
My friend is going to be hosting the pictures Thanks though Yeh, the iMACs are cool looking, but 1) you have to put in an LCD display, then shove everything in there. The case I'm working on is an Apple II, it's a desktop (not a tower). Everything fits in without any major mods except the cd-rom drive
the_modder, Firstly, I don't take too kindly to anyone calling one of my moderators a moron. Strike one of three. Secondly, your images were changed into URLs because you wern't using your own hosting. Rich.
I was using my own hosting until PacBell decided to take me down. BTW: All the images were on MY PacBell server!
the_modder theres not even links to your modification project, by any chance is it a mac classic II computer your modding?
Am curious and also not able to see the pics I must say though that it's always wise to start inquering why someone edited your post before you start calling them names. They may sometimes have a reason... Sir George
Ok, I almost have the CD-ROM mounted. Next I'm going to mount the floppy. Unfortunatly I will have to cut some of the case for that. BTW: Also a part of this project is to preserve as much of the case as possible. Feedback please
No insult to you, but I personally thing it's horrible. It looks like you are using the apple case because you don't have anything else to put it in, or be "ghetto" What would be far cooler IMHO would be to try to keep the look of the apple case, and get an emulator <mac OS it came with> Person: Haha! You have a 1987 mac! My computer is better than that! You: *taps a keey* *computer boots into XP and you start playing UT2003*
