can you mix those two together?
maybe have red as the foreground color, with a strip going down the center two bars.
then have the stone on the rest.

or, maybe, you can even have a gheeto off center red strip going from one corner, to the other corner... =].

I'm a fan of the stone look over the red. But the red still looks really sharp.

Either choice is a good one in my book.

I'm sampling three different shades of red. :thumb:

I've got an Almond Slate representing the lighter end of the spectrum. It has a nice subtle green tint to it that i can't seem to photograph.

Thanks. I have to choose one version for a case mod contest, another for my friends in the media and a third for the wife. I'm betting they will all be different.

Anything is possible. Your suggestion is making me thirsty for my favorite Jamacian beer. :hehe:

    Thanks guys! :thumb:

The red is very stunning in person. The new burgundy is really good looking but I'm having difficulty photographing it. I'm thinking that a red version will be my contest entry. If I can't win then I might as well light the place up. :cooldude:

I'm currently fussing over the finish by sanding it down and re-applying the lacquer. In between coats I'm doing some detail work and trying on some "looks".

    Here goes...

After another monumental struggle I've come up with this solution for a handle(s). They are solid stainless steel bars that are suppose to be kitchen cabinet hardware. A handle to help pull the case out of the shell has been in the plans from the beginning.

The handles also serve to protect the fragile antenna and adaptors sticking out the back. The setup also adds another layer of strength to the aluminum back panel.

An excuse to shoot a few more "fashion" photos. I'm still not happy with the lighting and colors but that will have to wait.

This is suppose to be burgundy but it shows up as red on my monitor.

The bottom of the shell needs a coat of flat black and to have the inlet grill mounted.

I reversed the grill to show its unfinished side instead of the polished front. I think the more industrial looking side displays better on the case bottom.

    Thanks for looking!

Amazing work. I was surprised by you going for something on a much bigger scale than i was used to seeing from you. Pleasantly surprised, i must add :)

I like the red/burgundy one. the contrast is nice and it catches the eye quickly :)

LOL You don't waver do you. Respect.

I'm going to get a shot of that burgundy even if it kills me.

    Thanks!

Thanks. I guess I had to work on an ATX tower at some point. Couldn't do it "normally" but I still get to check the box.

    Thanks guys. I appreciate it.

Standard el cheapo air conditioning filter from Wally World.

Cut to size. (Looks like I'll get at least two more out of it)

Fit into the recess created between the grill's wooden frame and the shell bottom. (Note to self: Get a better filter support pattern like those ones with medium sized holes).

Action photo, well...kinda. :D Now I just need to remember to change the PC filter when I change the AC filter.

Thanks for looking and thanks for voting.

hmm, im still going with the red. The one with the designs is nice too (red and gold??).

A/C filters, now why didn't i think of that? simple and effective.

Great work and congrats on MOTM nomination! :D

I know I'm late to the conversation here, but very nice work. Just went through the whole thread, and very impressed.

A computer that looks like furniture. Wish I knew how to do all that stuff. I've got all kinds of ideas, but know-how is a must.

It will be interesting to see how the noise level is, but I don't think it will be a problem.

As far as the sides go, if it were me I would use a nice clear acryllic panel on the one side. I know that would not be in keeping with the Mission theme, but I like to see my puter.

    Anyway, great job.

This is so nice my friend, I can smell the wood and the varnish from here! :) I will use some pine wood for my creation but due to excessive heat I apply it bends so I have to use various techniques to "heal" it! I am really impressed with your work man! Bravo!!! :)

Have you thought about using stained glass for the panels? I used it on mine.

Amazing work - hard to believe that is covered with veneer and not made of solid wood.
