Hi Guys & Gals, As maybe some of you know, I try to do a "Mod in a Week" project once a year but in the 2 years since I started doing worklogs, in both mod in a week projects, I´ve never let people know when it was going to happen, what was it about, etc so they went somewhat unnoticed, since they only last for a week which is exactly what this is about. Starting and finishing a complete project within a week, as I go along I post several updates per day and so on. This year, I was looking more in to getting some feedback from the community before I do it and so I´m looking for some ideas on what the theme could be this year. The past two projects have had themes. The first one was about giving new life to a veeery old case, it went from this: To this: Which also turned out to be my first ever worklog. The second project had a game theme, it went from this: To this: So, this year, I´d like some suggestions from you guys in a theme. Have in mind it has to be something that´s not overthetop expensive, so it will most likely not be watercooled and that is doable within a week. I´ve been playing around with the idea of a Steampunk theme, what do you guys think? I´d also like to know if anyone would be interested in also doing a mod in a week project of their own at the same time, to make it more a community thing? Cheers guys.
Small form factor seems to be the trend right now! Out of interest what screen is on your 2nd mod? My next mod is going to be a make your own all in one so I am curious
If you like steampunk so much-game Dishonored would be perfect choice. I want to do it for a long time, but I could,t find any suitable case for my idea. Hoping that you will have more luck than me.
afc95: That´s definately a good idea, keeping it SFF would also save time, thanks for the suggestion! As for the screen, it´s an old 17" Hanns LCD I had laying about. I find the older LCDs are much easier to work with when integrating them in to things, of course their picture quality leaves much to be desired but still! Pranja: I think that idea deserves a lot of detail so not sure it´d be doable within a week. Also, after just finishing APASF a couple of weeks ago, I don´t feel like working in an overly detailed Steampunk Variation project The reason I did do the fallout one is because the base colours are very simple to work with, black and yellow stripes, the rust and surface details on top are not very time consuming but do ehd up giving a great look if that makes sense?
Hmm,what about finding something that allready looks stempunk-ish and put pc in that object? Something like old clock, radio or similar object?
how about Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon? 80's-esque sci-fi, bright neon lights, cyborgs. And if that's not enough you could just plaster Michael Biehn's face on it.
While that sounds like a ton of fun, I can´t help but feel it would end up looking like a mod made in the late 90s early 00s, you know, with as many cathodes, funky lights, etc as possible :S
