Great work! That said, I'd like to make a comment about the DVD mount. The Drive part is excellent as is/are the external laminated mounts to the horizontal plate that connects the modules. Here's my thoughts. The horizontal rods are cool but the big flat plate the DVD sits on doesn't seen open enough to match the rest of the mod. Maybe just use enough of the plate to secure the DVD 'legs' to the connecting rods. Doesn't seem to 'float' enough. Minimize the flat plate to smaller separate mounts and let the module just rest on the rods. Seriously cool the way it is but my $0.02. What do I know.

    This plate:

i think i mentioned the same thing in the design phase. I've been following this mod closely, and i'll be damned if you don't make a killer digg article when done, but i completely agree on the DVD mount: it needs rework into a more open format.

this thing is amazing! very cool to see it take shape from your sketch up's.

wireing this thing is going to be a bitch, but so worth it!

    Lol yer....

Well on with yet another update :D

I took on board some suggestions about making the mounting plate of the dvd drive smaller and got on with that today.

First i had to cut some longer bolts to go in place of shorter ones that were holding the green and black bits to the rods as the short ones were now too short. and i removed the protective wrapping that was on the rods
    [IMG]

I then shortened one side of the dvd mount
    [IMG]

And then i did the other one and mounted the dvd housing notice how now you can hardly see the mounts compared to the massive sheet :D

I then removed the protective bits that were on the mounts

My tubing hasnt arrived today so hopefully it will arrive tomorrow....

    And thats it :D

are we making up words again?

It would be good design challenge: a PC of which all the elements appear to float in thin air :D
