Project: mth deskjet 5550

Here is my casemod

Right after finishing my last casemod mc niidirull I started to walk around with my eyes open searching for a new case to mod. since my aim has allways been to bee original, I dont really like the high-budget-lookalike mods. So i decided to put my computer inside a printer. Here are the pictures:


The start, some hours of planning:


Motherboard is Abit NF7-S and some samsung sata hdd mounted there:


CPU axp 2500+ and whisperrock IV is whispering on it:

Nice and original - you certainly managed that!
Any plans to cover the remaining holes?

 

There goes that idea..

I was looking at my printer a couple weeks ago "If I ever get enough money and finish with this mod.....that's next"

I was thinking it might be cool to mod a printer, you did a great job!

Always been a big fan of modding PC's into unexpected objects, like the Recycle Bin project that is around now at the forum. This one is certainly also a great example of it. I'm thinking of doing one myself but I won't reveal witch object, or I'll end up like Death Reaper

Or why there's no place to put paper in the printer.

Looks very well done, very sleek

 

The buttons are working, one is on/off and the other as a reset. the red 'paper jam' button is hdd light and green one power.

The hole in the front does'nt bother me, but seems to bother many people, I'll figure something out what to do with it, atm I have some problems with my Crystalfontz LCD display, I just cant get it working, have to doublecheck everything.

 

I'd put atleast a black mesh in the front there to help it look not so empty.
Otherwise sweet job.

 

hehehe i never thought of modding my DJ 5550 probably because it's such a great printer. it looks really good !
