That looks really nice,
love the case too
Cooool! Nice work Dark
You can go with an O-ring, or look up buna-n sheet. It's O-ring material you can cut to fit. It's stackable too.
McMaster has both, but they are in the US.
Sorry to hear about the breaking of the tap. That's why I tap the plexi instead. It's easier to deal with if you screw up.
It looks great, You can hide the scarred corner by adding another bevel to the corners, or even file them round.
thanks, The boy 4rm oz, Rozzy, mnpctech and Cheapskate
I went to a hardware store yesterday to get a tap and an o-ring.
I wanted a tap for the nozzles(G1/4 I think it's called) and they had one, BUT it costed 199.-fr !!! 199.- for a litle shitty piece of steel !!!! that's insane !
so I didn't buy it...
they also "pretended" that they were also selling o-rings but the biggest they had was 4cm in diameter and I need a 8.5cm one....
considering that that store is supposed to be the largest "industrial" hardware store where I live, I have to say that it realy sucks... and I don't know of any other places to buy that kind of stuffs.
So I think I'll have to order a tap and an o-ring from internet
Anyway, I painted the internal part of the case in black
I might aslo get some plexi glass next week or the week after
Very very nice Dark~3nergy
thanks mate !
Option #3: Permatex automotive sealant. They have a copper colored variety.
G1/4" tap: Harbor Freight or Enco, (US again...sorry.)
Very tidy. The black interior really caps it off.
The black paint give this case and great look
The interior looks fantastic. I esp like the red overhead lighting
I found a kit with 6 taps(inc the 1/4") for only 12.99$ on harbor freight, now I just have to see if they can send it to switzerland
^^ dark catch my on msn if you do cos see if i can get it to the uk mabye as well ^^
no finish go go go
Nice machine,nice job
My wish for christmas is an milling machine or an CNC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thorn, I hope I'll have it finished for christmas. then I'll start working on another mod
Anyway, I asked Harbor Freight for the shipping for that tap, and they said it was going to cost me 170.$....
so I'll see if some one near me can do it for me, I don't want to spend 170 $ on some taps.
Holly cow ! (ou plus précisemment : La vache !... ) Impressive work. But now there's one thing I find disturbing : You intend to use a 2.5' hdd but a regular DVD drive ? Why not a slim DVD drive-burner ?
EDIT: 170 USD de frais de port pour un taraud ? Ca doit pouvoir se trouver en quincaillerie ça, non ? Je me renseigne près de chez moi à tout hasard. Quelle sont les spec ? Pas & taille du filetage ?
for the dvd drive, in the first design I made I didn't have any, because I never use dvds or cds on my computer. the only time I use one is when I install windows so it was kinnda point less for me....
but it didn't look nice with just the psu hanging out of the case, so I added a full sized dvd drive, a slim drive would have been to small for hanging on the side.
but I'll probably never use it
and for the "taraud ", I checked in 3 stores. 2 didn't have any and the last store could order one for 200.- and it's a 1/4" so it's not metric, it's probably therefor it is so "rare".
You're right, with the PSU "outside" the box, anything smaller than a regular than a regular DVD-drive would make the thing look unbalanced.
As I live near Paris I'll look for a decent 1/4 tap.
then this should help you, german shop, got the 2 tap+ drill bit set
thanks FrooP, I'll probaly buy it from them.
small update :
I bought a corsair dominator airflow fan today
removed the cheap blue paper layer on it, I'm going to mod it later.
I'll add some copper and red plexi glass to it
I also orderd a lot of 3mm and 5mm laser cut plexi glass
I might receive it next week but that's all for now.
Thanks to pc-koolance.eu for their support !
