    thanks alot man ! :)

sadly my project got kinda put on hold because of school, i have nearly no time to mod.

BUT !!!! in 5weeks i have 2 weeks of holiday, so that will be a modding holiday for me, I've already planned to do some welding, i have redesigned some technical parts that i will make during those two weeks, and hopefully I'll be able to paint it :D I'm really looking forwards to that and hopefully i can get it finished for summer.
And after that I'll start my new project here ;p

also quick question, is there some way to easily remove rust without sanding ? because i noticed that some coolant leaked in a corner of the case, and its kinda hard to access it with sand paper, so i was wondering if i could somehow remove that rust without sanding it down ?

Hmm, you could try Electrolytic Rust Removal, if manual abrasive removal proves too difficult. Just be make sure you attach the case to the negative side of your voltage source!!! (or you'll end up with a much more rusty case than you began with :eeek:)

Here's another (perhaps simpler) method using alkaline solution (lye) and zinc: Remove Rust and Scale from Steel (The page is really boring w/o pics, but the info is good, so give it a read through)

    Good luck! ^_^d

    thanks :)
also, rust removing. floyd94, thanks for the links, but i think useing a dremel would take too much time. so therefore the Electrolytic Rust Removal thing sounds good, but i doubt i can find something large enough to submerge the whole case into. maybe i can find someone in my town that does such stuffs, i will read a bit more about that though.

    and another preview ;D

    Yay! Welding! :D
Media blasting is your best option. The poor-man's equivalent would be to drag it around in the nearest playground sandbox.

    UPDATE 25

Soooo after nearly a year of inactivity, I've started to work on this case again.
i decided to change some stuffs, because i didn't plan this build well enough >.<
so therefor, i will weld all the steel part together, instead of having 2 parts for the case. and remove the dvd-rom thing because i can't make it hold well. and also i will try to put the PSU inside the case, and not have it on the outside, but i'm not sure that i can do that really, i only have about 13*15*6cm to fit the psu so i'm really not sure if i can fit a 600w psu there.

anyway, here is what i've done so far, i wanted to do more, but i bought the wrong sandingpaper so i couldn't sand down the edges properly.

first, bought some stuffs, welding things, welding eye protection thing, and sand paper that didn't fit my sanding machine :(

anyway, first thing i did was to remove the dvd holder :

then i started to weld the internal part :
i did the best i could, but this was the first time i really welded something alone, so i am very happy with the result

welded it to the case :

    hmm... not very clean

looks very very dirty :S don't really know how to clean it.

then i welded the top part :

i used a metal grinder, dunno if it's really called so, to clean the edges :

    my new best friend :D

it didn't look good everywhere so i rewelded it :

aaaaannnnnd after alot of grinding and sanding it's starting to look much better :)

    and finally :

it still need more sanding and i just sanded it like that on one side, but i'll do the others next weekend !:)

    till then, cya :thumb:

There's just something really special about seeing a "dirty" freshly welded thing being brought around into something beautiful. Keep it up dark :thumb:
