» Discuss Because I haven't really posted much on Bit-Tech before (I have read most worklogs though...), I'll introduce myself first. My name is Gert Hengeveld, I'm 17 years old and I live in Hengelo, a mid-sized city in the east of The Netherlands. I've been modding for a couple of years now and I got myself up to a reasonably high level already. I have some sponsors, and I'm trying to attend as much events as possible with my case, showing it off. I started this mod almost a year ago. It went to PcXperience (casemodding event), where it was in a only halfway finished state... This summer I haven't really done much on the case, but I've decided to start the mod all over again. I have arranged with my sponsor SilverStone, that Project Nimex will be at their stand at Cebit 2006. This is what it used to look like. Some major changes since the 'old' version: » Completely new, all custom-build framework. Only mobotray and front will be re-used. » CPU will be cooled by a phase change system. » Current 1/2 inch watercooling system will be replaced with a new 3/8 inch system (only radiator remains). » Motherboard will be mounted BTX-style. This is what it should look like in the end. Just catching up here.. I already had my CiP running on some dutch forums. I'm going to build an entirely new case, only reusing the front panels off my SilverStone TJ03. Here's a sketch of how the frame will be. I got an AC Aquaero, and I configured it to display it's own text. Also got an AquaSteam pump. Plus a flowmeter (which I will not be using in the end because I got a better one now), and the Aquastream controller. I got a load of watercooling components from my sponsor Core-Systems.nl (at the moment I'm writing this, they stopped sponsoring... but at least I got a load of stuff for free ), here's the pics. The ScorBull reservoir, clearly inspired by the AC AquaTube. The VGA waterblock I got, unfortunately this one is for a Radeon card and I have 2 GeForce 6600GT cards.. so it won't fit I'm getting 2 new blocks like this one with the right mounting plate from Scaro Systems (the manufacturer) now, for a fraction of the normal price. I also have a chipset waterblock like this one. The ScorPlex reservoir, 53cm long can contain almost a litre of water. I attached a push-in fitting to it, with a temperature probe inside. I bought a new motherboard, because the chipset waterblock wouldn't fit when using 2 vga cards on the 'old' motherboard (MSI K8N Diamond). I also got myself a brand new Tagan Easycon 580 watt modular psu A while ago I already got the AC AquaStream 3.0 pump, now it got it's fittings » Discuss
I got a new shipment with some nice stuff in it it's only some small stuff but I needed it nevertheless. 2 valves, a T-angle connector, rubber grommets and 2 connectors for an Eheim 1046/1048 (1 for the pump, 1 for the radiator). I found out my Thermochill HE120.3 triple radiator uses the same connections as an Eheim pump, so I gave it some new fittings. Also I got the materials for the frame I'm going to build, more on that later. » Discuss
Predicting this one to be worth watching. You have some really nice gear there. Cant wait for more. *Subscribed*
The pump's fittings looks nice . I like your mainboard and tank. Looking forward for updates. You stole the name for my friends project, he already got a engraved logo. and we wil start the work next year. N|mex is also his nickname
I got a new flowmeter from Swissflow B.V., who were kind enough to send me a free SF800 infrared flowmeter. I'm lucky I live in The Netherlands I found their website through another project log here on Bit-Tech. This flowmeter allows for a much better flowrate than my AquaComputer flowmeter, which I originally intended to use. Also, it's way more accurate. Some specs: - Measuring range: 30 to 1200 lph - Temperature range: -20 to +90 °C - Operating pressure: 16 bar - Max. pressure: 40 bar - Connections: 3/8” BSP - K-Factor: 6000 imp/litre - Accuracy: 1% Also got 2 Western Digital Raptor harddisks, 36gb each. I bought them 2nd hand from the creator of Project Ice Cold Li Ofcourse I'm running these in RAID 0 » Discuss
Yesterday I've spent a big part of my day on building the framework. Ofcourse I took some pictures I used a miter saw to saw the aluminium framing in a 45 degree angle. I discovered that the agle pieces I bought were not exactly 90 degrees, but a hammer did the trick. After drilling 4mm holes in the right places, I tapped them for M5 bolts. After an hour's work, the first cornerpiece was finally finished. With the pleasure of some music and a glass of coke, the work went a little faster after that. Some time later the first completely finished corner was a fact. While it was snowing outside, the work in the (just as cold) garage went well, with the exception of a piece of framing which I measured wrong. Now I'll have to buy a new piece of aluminium... After a day's work, this was the result. Only a couple of hours more and it'll be finished, but that is for some other time. » Discuss
looks good *subscribed* to bad you could not have gotten someone to donate a couple of 6800GTs at the least
2 WD raptors + RAID 0 = i freakin hate you!!! this will be one worth watching, and im really liking that you started the log off with a healthy amount of pics.
@Klikka_bZerk: As you can read in the starting post, I started with this project in December 2004... and I had the name in my head for some months before that already. Anyhow, it's hard to be original anymore. Should be nice compairing 2 mods with the same name My log was already on some dutch forums for half a year or so. I had planned to post it on BT also, but figured I wanted a good start so I waited until I had something decent to show Thanks for the feedback
@Koradhil: Hehe, me and my friend are gonne pwn your mod (just kidding). I'l might show you the engraved logo, it's gonna be a anime theme and the figure link somewhere.
Today I received the rest of my watercooling parts from Scaro. I was originally supposed to get this stuff sponsored by Core-Systems, but they stopped sponsoring so I had to get it some other way. I got Scaro to send me the stuff for cheap. The stuff in daylight. Waterblocks under UV light, including waterblocks I already got. UV blue tubing A list of the stuff I got: - Scarex CPU waterblock Athlon 64 uv reactive - ScaBoost Chipset waterblock uv reactive (I ordered 2x VGA waterblock.. they shipped me the wrong block, and only one) - 5 metres of UV blue tubing - LED Lighting module (excluding LED) - A whole lot of screwfittings » Discuss
It's a very good day today I came back from work this evening and I was pleased to find a big box standing in the hallway So I unpacked it, and found the Prometeia Mach2. And ofcourse I had to open it... And while I was at it.. I also connected the LCD display and plugged in the power cable. » Discuss
Nice to see your casemod here, and also very nice that I am standing in the List with Special Thanks. Thank you for that. And hurry up the Cebit is soon there.
It's been a while, but I'm back with an update. I've finished the frame, and yesterday I was about to mount the front doors to it, when I found out I had made the frame 3cm too high. So I shortened the frame and re-drilled and re-threaded the holes. Now all is fine and the front doors are installed. Thats 78cm high By the way my A64 3500+ happened to have a coldbug, it wouldn't work under the mach2. So I bought a new cpu, an AMD Opteron 148 Let's see if I can get it up to 3.5ghz or so. Oh and I updated my website. A full gallery of Project: Nimex can now be found here. » Discuss
