Well, time well spent. It would be funny when you call up shuttle to exchange your DOA modded box although I'd love a copy of that call. "Well sir, did you even test to see if it worked before starting your modding?" "...[silence]...maybe..." I love it so far. Did you use the sabre saw there to get the cuts on the windows so straight? Mine never come out that well :/ Are you SURE you didn't use the muffler to help with the window? Although I just don't see how I'd use it....
Shuttle is wonderful about only taking the motherboad back for RMA lol. But anywho, much work has been done, and the LCD screen is being worked on, but there will be no updates until monday or tuesday, I'm going out of town, so you'll just have to wait! Endscape
Well, I cant find Grizzy anywhere, so photobucket will have to do. Chieftec cases are good for something lol Drive cage and whatnot The powersupply being painted. I got the idea from Zapwizards shuttle mod, shoot two colors at one spot, gives it a crazy effect. In this case, I used blue and black, it turned out good I think. I am having issues with the lighting, so it might be awhile before the next update. COMMENTS?
with a one fan set up such as this case not having the windows spaced prevides better cooling as it draws air in over all the components the way it was ment to project is interesting i might have to get a shuttle but there is no need for 56k warning in the thread title, i belive it is stated in the rules
I hope you still end up placing and lcd in your front pannel, that would be killer! next month I think im going to buy one of those ps1 lcd's. I like the placing of the windows on the outside of the case. you know, no mod is complete without water cooling!! I would love to get one of those shuttle boxes and mod it.. but my chieftec full tower demands my full attention.. I have an idea, shuttle box vs the chieftec server tower LOL
Yeah? Well, it makes me feel special. Thanks for the comments guys! I am going the windows redone so the edges will be cleaner, and probably have new symbols laser etched into em.
*drouls* looks so nice, i want a shuttle now *cries* oh well, the benifits of being broke is that you can't waste your money!!
I dont really know what happened, but, a new one is on its way, so all is good. Thanks for the comments guys, E
Well, if you dont mind buying used, there are a couple for sale on anandtech.com and hardocp.com. Look under forums -> For Sale, there should be in there somewhere. Thanks for the positive comments guys (and gals), E
Here's the initial plan, I'll resize them in a minute here. It's three layers of 1/4 inch plexi and one layer of 1/16th aluminum. What's that you say? That's right, NO LCD SCREEN. I've decided not to include it in this shuttle, I've got a grand case mod coming up, and its needed for that. Well, not a case mod, a MONITOR mod More details on that next week. The only thing I dont have planned is the DVD slot in the aluminum, that's only because I forgot to grab the drive before I came in, and its too late to run back out to my shop for it. I'm planning on mounting the front accessible ports in the open PCI slot, or above it, depending on how I jimmy it in there. Also, the power, reset, and Eject buttons are being relocated to the back of the case. I am working on the layout for a dummy PCI card that would all me to move all the front accessible ports and switches to a breakout box, but I dont have time to finish it today. What are all those weird little cut outs you ask? Well, I'll explain it layer by layer. The Sketchup files are available for download at the end as well. The shuttle has mounting posts, so the small circles are to clear those, the small cutout is for the DVD-ROM, and the large cut out is for air flow. I may add slots for LED's in this layer as well. The mounting posts have been cleared at this point, so the mounting holes are there to accomadate the screws. The only new thing is the slots for the LED's to provide a little glow. Another thing I forgot, I didn't round the top edges, but it'll happen when I'm building it, I just have to eye ball lol. The slots here are to accomadate the new power LED setup, I'll draw that up in a minute. The front will be 1/16 aluminum hopefully, and will be painted like the rest of the case. The slot in the middle is meant to allow the LED's embedded in layer 3 to shine through. Again, I forgot to add the DVD-ROM slot. Sketchup Files Composite Layer 1 Layer 2 Layer 3 Layer 4 - Aluminum
More shots of the composite THE BOLT WAY VIEW FROM THE BACK JUST EASIER TO SEE ANOTHER SHOT FROM THE BACK Any thoughts?
I was thinking about adding an Audio VU meter and a HDD activity meter to the front bezel, so here's another sketchup set.
looking great, I dont know if this has already asked but how did you choose the text? If im not mistaken the sidepanel reads "hardcore" what is the "ka" on the top panel for? begining of your name? This looks to be a great shuttle mod, i will watch and see what you do to it, I might end up doing a shuttle mod somewhere on down the road.
I hope the top reads "power" and the fact that you recognized the hardcore makes me all the happier lol. Thanks for the compliments, hopefully I can actually start construction on the front today! E
Endscape, Well I dont know about the top, im not very accustomed to Kanji, however there is a katakana charachter just like that that reads "ka" Tho im sure its the kanji for power if you say so.
